I have a free ticket to the ACC tournament. My direct boss said it is fine to go but he will get chewed out by the superintendant (who is like a female activist almost). Me and the superintendant have had a few arguments before because she is very very political and get offended when she isn't in the loop on everything, and nobody at work likes her. Me and a coworker are planning on going but there has been an unspoken rule not to let both of us off at the same time. What does TWW think to do?

Where you go on your time off is none of their business.

Unless you have scheduled shifts, on-call, duty, etc, when you take time off shouldn't really be their business either (obviously, there are some limits to this one).

That being said, remember that NC is an at-will state.

She says that young engineers should want to make every effort to be productive in the company. She is the type to take everything personally. She sees us as representing our department in our seperate areas of the mill. Me and they guy im going with are the engineers on the backside. She has been harrasing me for a while because she has a machine that she vouched hard for our company to buy. We bought it and it dont work worth a crap and she always harrasses me to get it fixed cause her reputation is on the line.

Sounds like your direct boss is trying to guilt you into not going. Like he doesn't have the backbone to say no, but he really wants to.

How many days off work are we talking about? Life is short, this obviously isn't your career, etc.
