does anyone know of any good townhomes or homes for rent, preferably close to the beltline? i will be working in southeast raleigh and the other location is up in the air right now so i'm hoping to stay close to the beltline and/or I-40. looking to get a dog this summer, so it must be pet friendly and preferably $735/month or under. i've read about a lot of different communities, but i never know what to trust on apartmentratings.com. 3/12/2009 1:44:40 PM |

My place is 1600sq ft 2BR/2BA and $950/mo. I split it with a roommate and pay $450 on my end. Works out great. Location is near crabtree mall, just above the beltline.
You can find lots of 1BR apartments for under $735, they're all over the place. Check out Edwards Mill/Duraleigh area and Creedmore/Millbrook road. Convenient to I-40 and/or beltline and within that price range. 3/12/2009 2:10:29 PM |

i've found quite a bit of places. they may not be in the best neighborhood, but it's about all i can afford being an unpaid intern and not taking out student loans
specifically, does anyone know anything about these places:

oh, if you're considering apartments too, then there are umpteen million one bedrooms in that range
two that come to mind are woodland court and walnut creek--i think they're both ~650 and they're literally like 1/2 mile off of 40 3/12/2009 2:35:56 PM |

thanks for the replies. i'll definitely try to check out sumter square. i'd rather not live in an apartment setting, but i'm open to it. some of the places i listed have townhomes, too. oh, i also wanted to see if anyone knew about Lynnewood Park.
i've searched all of them and read a lot on apartmentratings.com, but i never know if the people are just high maintenance or regular complainers or if it really IS that bad. 3/12/2009 2:40:13 PM |

Ambrosia is correct, I'll chime in for Sumter Square.

I liked the place, it was like halfway between the Harris Teeter on Western & Crossroads in Cary, so it was close enough to campus & for shopping/movies & grocery runs. And now that there is a Sonic nearby, I'd almost move back to Raleigh just for that 3/18/2009 5:29:27 PM |

We (ncsujen07 and I) checked out Sumter Square on Friday based on what everyone said here. I was impressed with the place and Melissa in the office was very nice.
We really liked Dutch Village on Jones Franklin too, but the management is now only doing purchases or lease to own 3/18/2009 6:50:22 PM |

woodland court is a fucking dump, they've had cars broken into and aggravated assault and robbery, lady straight up wouldn't even be honest with me when I asked about it already knowing the answer
not to mention that they don't even have any overhead lighting in the rooms, and the reception lady is dumb as a brick 3/19/2009 1:36:58 AM |

I wouldn't consider Lynnwood particularly close to the Beltline. You have to deal with super shitty traffic to get to either the Glenwood or Wake Forest interchanges during rush hour. 3/19/2009 5:18:27 AM |

Another vote for Sumter Square or Wild Woods. Lived at both, and if I ever move back to raleigh, Wild Woods would be the first place I'd look at. 3/22/2009 2:36:58 PM |

Ive a friend at Sumter who loves it there. Very quiet, not too much college crowd. Entrance is directly across from the exit ramp for 440 @ jones franklin. 3/22/2009 6:07:11 PM |

For Hedingham townhomes... come drive around the neighborhood and see what's for rent. We're in a 3bd/2.5bath ~1500sqft townhouse and we rent for $950 through Block and Associates. The neighborhood rental group wanted to charge $1300.
There are TONS for sale and rent over here right now. Neighborhood is pretty safe, but there isn't a whole lot of parking which sucks. 3/22/2009 7:30:46 PM |

I say this everytime a thread like this pops up:
relocationhelpdesk.com has condos/homes/townhomes for rent in the Raleigh area. We rented a house from them for 2 years through Clark Properties. They were very, very nice people. 3/26/2009 3:44:41 PM |

^^ When I lived there each apartment had one assigned spot, and the rest were for the taking. Never had any trouble getting a spot, but if you have a lot of visitors parking might be an issue for them. 3/26/2009 5:00:11 PM |

^^^ I lived there for a year back in 03-04 and it generally wasn't too bad. That being said, the few times that I could not find a spot were really shitty because I had to go park in the next lot over and walk back and it always seemed to be raining those nights.

What about Gorman Crossings townhomes (not apartments)?
They have $800 3 bed/1.5 bath. They seemed really nice when I walked in. Anyone have comments on it?

For some reason, management changed about a year ago and I was not pleased after that. They wanted to raise my rent from ~$500/mo to just under ~$600/mo for a 2bed/1 bath. I had lived with them for a total of 4 years before the change and I was very pleased though. The ladies in the office were always nice. The community did start going "downhill" in some areas (increase concentration of non-english-speaking hispanics...) Parking started becomming an issue, another reason why I moved out.4/22/2009 12:39:22 PM |

haha I googled woodcreek apartments. I clicked on a link and was like "wow, these are bad ass. this is arcitecture like I have never seen in raleigh/cary. where do they have red stucco and palm trees around here". but it would be the woodcreek apartments is mesa, arizone that I was looking at. 4/22/2009 11:36:50 PM |

Didn't really read the thread much, but there are a shit ton of townhomes on thea lane, right near Kaplan road. They are pretty cheap and right next to the beltline, also in south Raleigh...somewhat. 4/22/2009 11:52:23 PM |

Gorman Crossings (Trinity Properties) is just under that for the first year. I've lived here for just under a year and have no complaints. They're cool with dogs as long as you clean up after them (and if you don't, eventually they just give up -- as is evidences by my roommates' dogs. Quite close to I-40. 4/23/2009 1:08:34 AM |
