NC in football will not likely happen within the next 20 yrs and probably in my lifetime... unless a playoff system comes into play. Thay might give us a better shot.

NC in basketball is much more obtainable, but still a ways off... hopefully in my lifetime.

I would have to say basaketball, simply b/c it's easier to fluke your way through the tournament than it is to fluke yourself into the bcs title game

i would think to even get to the BCS title game you would have to have 2 good years previous for the committee to even put you in

i dont see state going 3 yrs with only 1-2 losses per year

Yeah as sad as it is, I can't really see us winning a national championship in either sport in our lifetimes. I agree with the others that a football conference championship is likely in the next 4 years or so. But a national championship seems unattainable. The layout of our state in particular makes it unique compared to some others. North Carolina shares incoming recruits to five different Div. 1 programs. And since NC is not a recruiting hotbed like Florida, it makes it even more difficult to build a substantial advantage over other national programs.

And in basketball, I can only see us winning a conference tourney championship. It makes me sad to think that UNC will probably always be a top 25 program for the remainder of my life, and that State will dip in and out as we go through our good and bad times.

I don't think this is true. If we, as a BCS school, were to go undefeated and every other BCS school had one loss (which happens pretty much every 2 out of 3 years), I don't see how we wouldn't make the title game.

yeah plus they would check out your margin of victory during the season. Like if we went undefeated but we won by an average margin of 3 points per game, and USC and LSU (for example) each had one loss but their victory margin was like 10 points per game, we'd probably get ousted by them. That would be some NC State shit.

When I was in high school this was the thread that introduced me to TWW. It was by far one of the best threads ever on TWW. I am guessing when things went down a few years ago it was sadly wiped out as I've always wanted to see those pictures again.

But back on topic. I don't know about a national championship in 15 years, but if we keep TOB in football with the way he recruits players for his system moreso than talent, I think we will have an ACC Championship during the Wilson/Glennon years. Nothing was more frustrating my freshmen year with Derek Morris and at least 2 false starts a game and/or holds. The team is disciplined and last year showed signs of greatness. I wish I wasn't graduating in May just so I could watch this team on the field.
