Marie said that as they exited the store, she told her son to stay with the cart on the sidewalk until she could bring the car up because it was raining so hard. That's when she spotted trouble. Marie said that as she was pulling the car up to the sidewalk she saw three boys, one of which Marie later found out was armed with a knife, looking at her son "They kept walking toward him," she said. "I became very uncomfortable." That's when Marie said she pulled up, got out of the car and began to load things in the trunk as quickly as possible. "I saw them huddled and talking," she said. "I told my son to hurry up." After emptying her cart, she saw one of the suspects approaching her and could tell something was getting ready to happen. Reacting, Marie pushed her cart into the suspect and as she turned she saw a second suspect come up behind her. "I saw him go for my car," she said. "I grabbed the back of his shirt and told him to get away from my car." That's when Marie said that she was violently punched in the mouth by the suspect as he laughed at her. She said she fell to the ground and from that point on was a little dazed. Marie said she wasn't sure if her son had gotten in the vehicle or not and her main concern was for his safety. "I was frantic because I thought my son was in the car," she said. "I got up and started banging on the window to try and distract him (the guy who had jumped in the driver's seat)." Marie said she didn't realize it at the time, but her son was also yelling at the three suspects to leave his mother alone. That's when an older couple, whose names have not been released by investigators, heard the boy's calls for help and stepped in. "I saw the woman step in front of my car and begin yelling at these guys," she said. "She was saying that they should leave me alone. I believe she also told them that I had worked hard for my car and they shouldn't take it." Marie said she was afraid for the woman's safety because the entire time the woman was standing in front of the vehicle one of the suspects was trying to get the car into gear. "As it turns out, none of them knew how to drive a stick-shift," Marie said. The suspects, realizing they were not able to steal the car, took off running in an effort to get away. Two other good Samaritans came running out of the store and chased after the suspects in their vehicles."

so I was at a party in DE this past weekend...
