honestly, the bell tower is fine the way it is now. it would be a complete waste of money to install some intricate million dollar bell system, ESPECIALLY in this economy.

I think that since they are not using any university funds for adding the bells that it doesn't make any sense that this angers anyone.

If I am an alumni and I want to independently donate to the Speaker Tower instead of to Lee Fowler's Adventures in Failure, then that's my prerogative.

It wont cost millions.

The economy would actually help you get a better deal. Everyone is cutting costs to just cover overhead. The guy who started the facebook group got a quote around 250k to cover all costs.

we should treat the tower for what it is: a monument

not just some reason to spend extra money to shove a bell up there when it doesn't need one

if anything, its unfinished qualities stand to remind us of harder times and to be more appreciative of those who served

I am NOT up for raising fees for this. Like several have been saying before: if they want it to happen, let them fund it. If they want to put their money towards different things, let them. We are just gathering money from those who want to give to this.

As for the big picture, wait for the next article. It's going to be killer.

aside: we haven't asked for any money from anyone at this point. this is raising awareness. as for the shirts - you're getting a service, not donating.
