Couple questions about dreams#1) Has anyone ever been dreaming and new that they were in a dream#2) Has anyone ever experienced a dream where only your body was obeying the laws of gravity, but everything you tried to hold onto, or carry, was being affected by "anti-gravity" .. sort of like every object you were holding had the properties of a helium balloon? Also, feel free to discuss your other weird dream experiences.. dreams are so weird sometimes. Especially if you take a melatonin or other sleep aids.

1. Yes, but only when I was around 12-14 (lots of sex involved in lucid dreams and car driving at that age) 2. Nope

People always talk about falling. I often dream about floating into the sky and I try to grab things, so that I can stay on the ground.

I am currently working on my own lucid dream project. Most people can't abide the first step which is keeping a dream log where you record your dreams as soon as you wake. My brain messed with me this morning though when I had a dream about writing down my dreams in my dream log. Needless to say I woke up rather confused.

I had a dream 2 nights ago that I was the winner of a real life call of duty match (real life guns, shooting, killing) at an all girls college.

3/24/2009 9:29:47 PM
^ I always have very vivid dreams on a single melatonin.. most I have ever take was 2 on accident, but I've never heard of overdosing on melatonin, but at the same time I wouldn't recommend seeing how many your body could handle.

So any tips on lucid dreaming, I've read the guide where you keep a dream log but thats all I remember and it doesn't seem that helpful. Whenver I realize I'm having a dream I always try to bwn and I get too excited and wake up with wood
3/24/2009 9:41:07 PM
lol, i used to have crazy nightmares like every night so i eventually learned to tell when it was a dream.. i learned to just bite the shit out of my arm and wake myself upnot sure if that counts as lucid dreaming but i had control of myself
3/24/2009 9:42:21 PM
No tips on lucid dreaming.. it's very rare for me, but apparently I sometimes do it. I started taking melatonin because I'd never fall asleep because I was always "thinking" about things, but I found that if I have a 30 minute show recorded on DVR and I take one of those bad boys after the first commercial break I can finish watching the show, turn off the TV, and it is morning. Good stuff if you have trouble sleeping. I don't think it is addictive, but maybe so, I've pretty much been using them nightly for over a year...

yeah HockeyRoman, get back in here and explain how keeping a dream log can help you have these "lucid dreams" I'm curious now.
3/24/2009 9:47:58 PM
You're supposed to recognize things that are in all your dreams so that whenever you see them you associate them with dreaming. Then next time you see it you will realize you are in a dream and can do whatever you want. What I would like to know is how not to wake up while in a lucid dream. Granted I'm trying to bwn chicks but I'm guessing everyone does something exciting when they realize they are dreaming.

Furthermore there are things that you can do increase your chances of falling into lucid sleep. When you wake up in the morning, try to go back to sleep immediately if you do so and wake up again, try it again. Keep logs of things that happen in your dream. Pay attention to things in your dreams such as lights. Many people report that lights don't function in dreams. For example if you turn off a switch in a dream and the room doesn't darken then thats a clue that you're dreaming (this probably has to do with the brain's concept of the sun being around longer than lights or something). Another thing to pay attention to in dreams are clocks. They rarely function as expected. I used to have a recurring dream where i'd look at the clock on the microwave at my parents house and it would say 4:42 then i'd look again and there would be gibberish and i knew i was dreaming then i could fuckin do whatever i wanted. Piss rainbows, shit marshmallows. u noe itI'm Big Business and i approved this message./]

Anyone know anything other than melatonin that makes you dream a lot?I heard if you eat a lot before bed you dream a lot.
3/24/2009 10:00:28 PM
The point of keeping the log is that it trains you brain into actually remembering the dream since by and large most people forget their dreams rather quickly. Also, as was previously mentioned, you can keep track of and make note of patterns in your dreams. For me, it's weather. I typically have a weather related dream once every second or third night.Once you are comfortable with that you can start conducting reality checks (while awake) to determine if you are awake or asleep. This can be simple things like pinching yourself (since you don't feel pain while dreaming). Also, I read that you can draw an "A" on your hand meaning "awake" and then look for it in your dream to trigger lucid dreaming. Right before you are about to fall asleep it often helps to repeat to yourself a message like "I am going to see my hands when I dream" all while holding your hands in front of you. Studies show that in dreams you will usually have an addition or subtraction of fingers. If you are having trouble remembering your dreams when you wake it is advised to set your alarm about an hour early since we often dream right before we wake. This should enhance dream recall.Personally, my goal in lucidity is obtaining flight. I have probably had less than 5 lucid dreams that I can recall but each time they involved flight and it was exhilarating. The most important thing is to be patient and make your lucid training a relaxing process.

yeah, i've been shot a couple times in dreams. i felt one of em pretty bad, others were just a general discomfort. not quite sure what was causing it.
3/24/2009 10:22:16 PM
I had a nightmare once where I was running from someone that broke into my house i was trying to shut the door behind me but he stuck his arm in and sliced my achilles tendon I difinately felt that
3/24/2009 10:23:35 PM
Another big thing is to not have anything to drink about an hour or two before sleeping because there is nothing worse than being in the middle of an amazing dream, lucid or not, only to wake up prematurely having to pee.

The problem i faced with lucid dreaming is that the more i did it i started having sleep paralysis which is not fun. I thought i was dying almost every single time.I'm Big Business and i approved this message.
3/24/2009 10:32:19 PM
Sleep paralysis is a valid concern and I should have mentioned that. With lucid dreaming you are tinkering with the interactions of your brain, body and sleep.
3/24/2009 10:42:44 PM
All these things people say don't happen when dreaming have happened to me before. I've felt pain, tasted food, and hit the ground while falling.
3/24/2009 10:44:24 PM
Took 10mg of Melatonin 10 minutes ago, not feeling much yet.
3/24/2009 11:01:27 PM
i've felt intense pain everytime i had sleep paralaysis, but that happens because you are conscious and your body releases enough of whatever that shit is that prevents you from moving in your sleep, but not enough to completely knock you out. So basically all the nerves in your body start firing as if your leg was asleep, and you consciously feel that, meanwhile your body may go in and out of dreamlike states. Not fun at all. The other problem with sleep paralysis is that it usually happens while you're on the verge of being awake so you start off in the place that you're actually asleep. Which adds to the fear if you aren't used to it.I'm Big Business and i approved this message.

^ that's what that shit is? I always thought it was some evil demon or something holding me down. I really don't like it.

^lol. i've thought the same thing. it felt like some kinda spirit was trying to come into my body and i'd get freaked out so bad. it definitely feels weird.
