I was wondering if anyone knew of any charities in the area that are doing pickup of appliances and random items. Trying to help my parents clean out a storage unit and we have some commercial refrigerators in there.

You could try Cause For Pause thrift store. They pick up furniture and appliances. Just let them know what it is and see if it's something they want.

Search Craigslist Garage Sale.. THere are quite a few postings out there that say "Free pick up of garage sale leftovers".. Most of these postings are from Charities..

Schedule a pick-up with American Way:
http://www.americanwaythriftstores.com/pick-up.html

They'll come by and take almost anything off your hands for free.
