Life is pretty crazy around here!!! And I would like some help.

I have pack rat, workaholic husband. An over-scheduled special needs kid. A parrot, a dog, and two cats. There is never a dull moment.

I would like some help getting things together and getting organized. I have no idea where I should keep things. I have baby food jars, training cups, bottles, and medical supplies all over the place. My husband's computer stuff just piled here and there. Books galore!

Does anyone know of or have any experience working with a professional home organizer? Any recommendations? If I cannot find a professional organizer, I'm willing to work with someone who has a special touch and need for some extra cash.

Paying someone to organize your house is only going to temporarily fix the problem. If you don't build your own organizational skills everything is just going to go back to chaos.

Well after looking at that site I guess that's what you pay these people to teach you. Still sounds like a strange use of money, but good luck.

Quite frankly, I am an extremely scheduled and organized person -- when it comes to my time. My living space is a different situation. I keep cleaning up, but things quickly fall back into clutter and chaos. Probably because nothing has a place and the things that have a place are probably not in the best place. I probably also need some better ways of doing or storing certain things. I'm looking for a "smart friend" to give me a hand and some ideas so that life will run smoothly.

I would try every free/cheap resource I could before I took this route though, I'm sure there are books that could help you

or find a neat freak like my girlfriend to help you for free because they enjoy stuff like this

I know a lady from church that does organizing if you're out of "FREE" ideas. She has a "work-from-home" type business. My wife and I have never personally used her services, but I've been over to her house and other homes she's worked on and they're spotless. Very nice lady and she can sing like a gospel diva. But, I digress.... http://www.housenorder.com/

the first step, imho, would be to throw away all the stuff you dont need. if you havent used it in over a year or two, you dont need it.

flylady.net

her strategies will help you get and stay organized over time.

or she can help you stay organized after your pro leaves

and sometimes folks just need a friend to help convince/force you to let go of extra possessions.

^It's not always that straight forward, my friend. Someday, when you yourself are trying to take care of a house and care for a young special needs child, then maybe you can offer some decent advice rather than just being a troll.

^Thanks!

I'm not paying 69 any mind.

My son is extremely well taken care of and my house is clean. I'm not looking for a maid service, I am looking for someone to come in to give me some ideas on how things can be run more efficiently.
