mountainous, or at least hilly, terrain perferred. overnight camping - primitive preferred.

Uwharrie in the lead thus far.

look for ~20 miles without backtrack making a loop.

It's around three hours or so away, but Wilson Creek has some great trails and some nice waterfalls.

Some of the buttons didn't work, and I kept hearing random beeps and stuff whenever I tried to call anyone. So I knocked it against my shoe a few times, and tried it again; now HALF the buttons didn't work. At this point I just started beating the shit out of it...I stomped on it a few times, then punted it and let it drop onto a hard linoleum floor. After all this, NONE of the buttons worked.

Anyway, I gave it a try today, and it works fine.

No 20 miles of hiking or primitive camping, though.

why within 2 hours? just drive ~3 and get some really kickass hiking

but if you need to stay local, go to the Eno River

uwharrie is pretty damned great....used to live in asheboro and hiked it all the time....there may not be a 20 mile loop trail....but there are plenty of trails that individually im sure add up to well over 20 miles. they also have some 4x4 trails back there as well....atleast i think they did at one point

Came here to endorse Uwharrie. Looks like it's been said, so add my name to that list.

Medoc Mt. State Park... has about 15 miles of hiking and you can camp. Only about an hour from Raleigh.
