Quality-wise, they're both pretty nice I think. 4/3/2009 9:34:06 AM |

what's wrong with s2000 and nsx? if Honda had gotten into the RWD compact game, everyone would be singing a different tune. would be 4/3/2009 10:40:59 AM |

I had an 88 Prelude Si, inherited the car with 18k miles, one "lady" owner (mom). I broke a control arm on it, on the street. Had it for 2 years. It got stolen, then recovered with dubs a system, and a cut exhaust.
Then I had a new 98 Accord EX-V6. Interior wouldn't stop rattling, a window regulator broke, and two automatic transmissions. Gave the car to my sister, I believe it's about to go in to get another transmission.
I like the S2k, but unfortunately Honda doesn't build such cars very often. The Integra Hype-R is quite the machine, and the new Si is also pretty cool though. 4/3/2009 11:20:27 AM |

It is unfortunately that Honda only has brief moments of brilliance with sports cars. Hopefully they'll come out with something new in 1-2 years (affordable, not like the new $texas NSX) instead of shunning sports cars altogether like Toyota has done for the last 10 years. 4/3/2009 1:39:53 PM |

Honda is a smart business with management smart enough to make choices that cater to what the market demands.
How many nsx's and s2000s do you see on a daily basis. How many odysseys, civics, and accords? 4/3/2009 6:28:16 PM |

I'm amazed they can sell a 100hp/L car for under 22k$.
Its not even tweaked out from the factory. I wish they had revised the s2000 and stuck the k20 in it at a miata+2k price. I think they are the only two honda motors that spin clockwise. You cant tell me that was a coincidence. Too bad the economy plummeted. I wouldn't want to be on an R&D team for a sports car anywhere.4/3/2009 6:34:11 PM |

the civic si has been losing every Motortrend comparison I've read lately
the Rabbit/Golf ends up first every time (even in "sportiness"). someone with IRL experience with both care to chime in?

I've seen a couple of current generation si's on track, and they seem very capable. I don't place much weight on magazine reviews. The orig. Type-R's and the S2000 are amongst the very best/most track ready cars to be for sale from any manufacturer, and they were all relative bargains. So I'm ok with the fact that most Hondas are crap. 4/4/2009 10:53:56 AM |
Quinn All American 16417 Posts user info edit post |
I dont see how a modern day SI would be any worse than a type r. Almost exact same power to weight with a much more advanced engine.
I think the hype would be placebo enough to give the integra the vote but I doubt its much better if at all. 4/4/2009 5:24:31 PM |

Quinn, I don't care about power/weight of the Hype-R, my run of the mill M3 was faster. The S2k isn't fast either, it's the chassis balance I'm after. It's certainly not power/weight that makes either the type R, or the S2000 so much fun to drive. The above applies to the new Si as well. Steering/chassis feedback, brakes, etc. is the sauce. Anybody can make a fast car, there's a reason nobody's raving about how much fun the new Mustang is on track... 4/4/2009 7:13:08 PM |

Quite often. But when it comes to refusal to touch a Honda or Toyota, it's usually backwoods or smalltown or seriously old school.

yeah thats what kinda mechanic i'd be, if i were any kind of fucking mechanic lol
my friend turned out to be gay, which was obvious...but he was old school...he was a big fan of like the 20 foot lincolns with big engines etc...in hs he'd park it on the curb of the student parking lot and i swear it took almost 2 spots...i think he liked mercury too, cant remember
i got a few mechanic stories i'd like to get another mechanics opinion on tbqh...i mean this guy literally would only use one particular type of oil(something quaker state)
