Just in case they choose a door instead of one of 20 odd windows...

A 100lbs+ dog that looks like a wolf is about as good of a deterrent as anything.

lol I live on the second floor with only one way in and out, unless someone breaks in through the third floor deck which would be rather difficult. I only have 4 windows and getting up to them is a far bigger pain than coming in through the door. Also, I would hear glass shatter so that in itself is a good alarm system.

i screwed all my windows shut, moved shelving in front of one back door, keep the blinds only cracked during the day (instead of all the way open), leave the dogs loose in the house (one WILL bite), leave exterior lights on, and have various lamps on timers that are scheduled differently.

there have been several break-ins in my neighborhood lately.

haha I have a gun.

The third floor deck puts you right in the guest bedroom, very DARK room mind you and right near the entrance to the massive master suite with french doors that cannot be opened without making noise.

Therefore, shall I hear it I can quickly grab gun and get rid of scary bad guy. I just want some warning hence all the fun noise objects placed throughout.

It's actually pretty safe here, there is a small jail/cop station two blocks away as well as a fire station. They are in between me and the ghetto. I also have neighbors and we all look out for each other.

I feel pretty safe but hate sleeping alone.

So?

You've shown everyone on multiple occasions that you can't shoot.

"Compton?..."

close, rocky mount

over the past 2 months there have been more and more break-ins in my neighborhood. it started on the southeast side (closest to south rocky mount - the bad part) and has moved north and west (i live in the NW side of my neighborhood). last week there was a break-in a few houses down from me at 10am. they kick the backdoor in and/or pry windows open. they even set one house on fire.

i think, compared to my neighbors who are mostly old people, i have a LOT more stuff that would be interesting to thieves (ps3, wii, computers, tvs, etc).

i am female and live by myself, and when the police tell me to screw the windows shut, close the blinds, and turn on the lights i'm gonna do it.

A K-9 Unit attempted a track, but it ended behind a shed in the back yard, where it appears the perpetrator jumped over a short fence and walked on a church lot located behind the residence.
