Blake Griffin??

"NORMAN, Okla. (AP)—It appears Oklahoma sophomore Blake Griffin has made his decision regarding the NBA draft.

Griffin and Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel will hold a news conference Tuesday afternoon at which time the AP player of the year is expected to announce whether he will enter the draft.

Most experts believe the 6-foot-10 forward would be the first pick in the draft on June 25.

Underclassmen have until April 26 to declare for the draft and until June 15 to withdraw.

Griffin led the Sooners to a 30-6 season, averaging 22.7 points and a nation-leading 14.4 rebounds."

Just saw on ESPN that DeJuan Blair will enter the NBA draft. He may stay as his stock should be pretty high right now, but in some of the mock drafts he's only projected in the Top 20 and not a lottery pick.

Blake Griffin is going for sure now.

Chase Budinger apparently is planning to enter the draft and hire an agent.

Hmmm... this would be a major coup for a beaten down, but tradition-rich program...

Wasn't there someone on here who called Adam Zagoria a Big East-lackey because he didn't think Maryland was a major player?

Would the Big East or the SEC add Memphis?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Clearly, SEC basketball is upgraded with the addition of Memphis. Football, not so sure. But, the SEC would have to add an Eastern team. Perhaps Clemson, Va Tech, Ga Tech or FSU...I know most Ga Tech fans would prefer to be in the SEC.

As far as the Big East, geography aside, Memphis is an excellent fit in basketball while Memphis football could be very competitive in the Big East. "

WUT

None of them would leave the ACC. Plus the SEC already has 12 teams, they aren't going to add more.

FYI, those odds are based on rosters with no defections...

UNC keeping Ellington/Lawson. Duke keeping Henderson. Etc, etc.

Kansas should be unanimous #1.. and those are some fucked up odds. Syracuse officially lost Flynn, Harris and Devendorf. Alabama? Western Kentucky? Huh...

I agree that Kansas looks like they'll be the outright #1 team next season. Collins will be back plus they add Xavier Henry who could be the best freshman entering college next year. Cole Aldridge will be there as well. Now here's the thing, if KU wins it all next year, then how does Collins and Aldridge look in the minds of college basketball historians? They will have won two national championships, which very few players in the modern era can claim. I think they'd have to go down as two of the most accomplished players of this era, b/c they would have done it twice with different players around them. I'm not saying that they are some of the greatest of the past ten years, but that their resume would be pretty impressive when comparing it to others.

Speaking of best players, who do you think have been the best players of this decade (2000-2009)? If you could have an All-Decade Team who would you have on there? In order to make it easier on most people you can have a 1st Team, a 2nd Team, and an Honorable Mention like how the media does it.

Yeah, I don't start following the NCAA until the summer when shit is settled, ie once Frosh sit in on a class. Anyone think some of the odds actually look good, mainly UNC and Kansas?

And I wonder what would be higher, betting $100.00 at +500 for the NC or betting $100.00 plus rolled-over winnings on the ML for 6 straight tourney wins... Gotta figure they'd have a couple games at -150 or better.

1st Team
PG - Jason Williams
SG - JJ Redick (I know some will disagree, but a lot of successful teams have a dead eye shooter in their starting lineup and well he's perhaps the most prolific dead eye shooter ever).
SF - Kevin Durant
PF - Blake Griffin
C - Hasheem Thabeet

2nd Team
PG - Chris Paul
SG - Juan Dixon
SF - Carmelo Anthony
PF - Shane Battier (the fact that he was named the NABC Defensive Player of the Year shows how good he was in college, not too mention he also won the Oscar Robertson, Wooden, and Naismith NPOY awards in 2001)
C - Andrew Bogut

HM
PG - Ty Lawson (his assist:TO ratio is second only to Sidney Lowe in ACC history)
SG - Ben Gordon
SF - Julius Hodge
PF - Tyler Hansbrough
C - Emeka Okafor

Well who's better? And by that I mean when they were at their peak. I'm thinking defense here. Griffin will do plenty of inside scoring. Having Thabeet to swat away and alter shots would be huge for a team. Bogut was pretty good. But you've got to think about it, there aren't really that many great centers in college basketball anymore. Most teams don't even have a true center persay. They just throw two PFs out there.

I don't think it matters since they tested the waters last year, they can't test the waters a second year, if I remember the rule correctly.

So is UK right now a Top 5 team next year?

Anyone think we could get to the NCAA Tournament next year? We're gonna be a totally different team it seems. We don't know how good these incoming players are, but they seem to be able to play. Lo Brown is the real deal and should be a starter from Day 1. We get Duke at home this year, so we don't have to count an automatic loss at Cameron this year.

If we aren't playing to get into the tournament, then we should just suspend the program. The 2007 team nearly made it to the tournament and won our first ACC Championship in 20 years. The unexpected can happen, and if we as fans start bagging on the team this early and giving them excuses for not making the tournament then they might become complacent. I say why not think about an NCAA tourney bid, but don't expect it from them. The ACC will be weaker next year. If we can finish 6th then we may just have a shot provided we've done well in our OOC games against Florida, Northwestern, Arizona, and Marquette. We were just a couple of points away from a NCAA tourney bid. We should have won the UF, Marquette, Davidson, and VT games.

I'm down with that. With what we already had and what we've got coming in, we have the talent. It's our experience that has me a little worried.

I don't expect them to make the tournament, but I sure as hell will be making a "best case scenario" prediction when the schedule comes out.

All decade teams:

G: Jason Williams
G: T.J Ford (not that many great SG's in college)
F: Carmello Anthony
F: Shane Battier
C/F: Emeka Okafor (completely dominant in college)

G: Jameer Nelson
G: J.J. Redick
F: Kevin Durant
F: Blake Griffin
C/F: Bogut

HM: Hansbrough, Morrison, Paul, Felton, Wade

Can't put two PGs on the first team. Can't really argue that Ford doesn't deserve to be on one, but I'd probably lean Williams and Nelson with Ford on a 3rd team.

What great SGs were there in college though this decade?

Ben Gordon? He averaged 17, 4 and 4 while shooting 43% from 3 (with a title)

Juan Dixon? 16, 3 and 4 while shooting 46% and 38% from 3 (with a title)

*** and jesus, redick shot a lot. he had double the 3 pt attempts in some years that Gordon/Dixon had..

Wayne Ellington was pretty money most of the time as well. What about that guy from Arizona iirc that actually had a better 3pt percentage than Redick? I forgot his name. I remember him being a pretty outstanding shooter.
