I'm looking to get Seiko Kinetic, ESQ Quest, Emporio Armani, or Tissot. around $300
Where is good place to get?

buy.com price looks low but picture look kinda fake.
amazon.com price is about same as Macys.
Is duty free shop at airport any cheaper?

Are they real at buy.com or amazon.com?

Seiko Kinetic is $180 at buy.com but $260 at amazon.com or Macys. I wonder if it's real.

yes, otherwise they'd be out of business given that selling fakes are illegal. You can get away with it on ebay, but companies as big as buy.com or amazon would get fucked quickly.

usually the price discrepancy is because they are not "authorized retailers" which simply means that the manufacturer will not honor their warranty for it if you didn't buy from an authorized retailer.

Amazon typically has their own extended warranty for these items though. not sure about buy.com.

define a "decent" watch? Tag's will run $2k+, fossil makes professional watches, also at the guess store

why would you spend $300 on a watch,
are you trying to impress someone?

i can appreciate a really expensive watch, much like I can appreciate a ferrari.

But I could never bring myself to buy one.

I rock an $85 seiko and a toyota.

yeah 85 or so is about my price for a watch

you could never because it would be an irrational purchase out of line with your standard of living

In my current state, I'd never buy a first class plane ticket with my own money

but if my salary were to triple, it would much easier to pull the trigger

I too am rockin' the Seiko and Toyota. When I see people sporting a Tag I just think they're Seiko folks who are trying to impress someone; especially if it's the F1. That's why I'd never buy one myself. I figure I'll rock these Seikos for a few more years and then by myself a Rolex when I have a reason to celebrate.

I'll admit that the Carrera is nice. I saw them when I was in Baileys a couple of weeks ago and through they looked pretty impressive. You just never really see people wearing the nicer Tags. It's always the $500-$1200 junk.

i don't really know why someone would buy a $300 kinetic watch. either go all out or get a quartz, there's no need to have a cheap watch that doesn't keep very good time.

that said, i have a crappy knockoff breitling that's kinetic, but i just got that b/c it was funny, i don't wear it.

I've never really understood the allure of buying a battery operated watch, i.e. tag heuer.

i guess they don't want to have to wear it to keep it running, like their automatic models?

so your knockoff charges it own battery, just by the movement of wearing it?

there are a bunch of cheap automatics, but i've never seen a knockoff kinetic.

quartz watches are more accurate. People like the convience of not having to wind the watch.

I, too, have recently found myself in the market for a watch.

I'm looking at the Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Black Ion-Plated Skyhawk. Anyone know anything about these or something else you'd recommend? I am no watch connoisseur.

find an Aeromatic 1912 off Ebay

They ship direct from Germany, are affordable and will be by far the best watch you may ever own

the coating will scratch off over time and look funny. it's a good watch if you love gadgets.

what do you want, then someone can recommend something.

so you'd rather pay 2200 for a battery operated watch with the internals of a $20 Japanese manufacturer? instead of slightly more for a real movement.

for the record, that $20 battery operated watch is more accurate than the more expensive "real movement".

yes, that's been repeated many times. thanks. if you have another point, i'd like to hear it.

like i said before, it seems like overpaying for something that isn't worth it. if you need the accuracy of a quartz watch, go digital. a $20 watch masquerading as a 2200 watch is like polishing a turd.

if that's your thing, more power to you.
