Anyone eaten there at Mission Valley yet - where Rock Ola used to be? I just noticed the signs saying they're open.

i stopped in yesterday to take a look at the menu. they have lots of lunch specials for $6 and under, plus cheap beer.

i'll be going there for lunch tomorrow.

Unrelated, just fair warning. A place called 'La Cocina' is probably the worst Mexican food I've ever had. Went there because I had a coupon.

The salsa was terrible, as was the red sauce they used on their dishes. Just short of ketchup, even the salsa. They should just go ahead and rename it La Cochina.

Is El Cerro like eating a hot taco of garbage?

There are two El Cerro's back in my hometown (Havelock), food isn't bad at all. Of course the different wait staff doesn't guarantee it, but it shouldn't be all that different

heh. I was in there around a year ago talking to the GM. He did mention that times were getting pretty tough for the restaurant.

I know Z went with a group of 13 others. He said the food was good and fast, but the service needed a lot of work.

Of course, he's comparing it to fiesta mexicana - not a fair comparison.

You can't compare to fiesta mexicana. I live near the one in Cary near the Food Lion. That place is awesome.

OK, so they don't have their liquor license yet. They can't serve beer because of that. So we went to Ruckus instead.

El Cerro Grande on S. Saunders is badass.

If this place is the same I'll be very pleased.

same here... pretty much the standard fare

Fiesta Mexicana is probably my favorite "generic" mexican place

my absolute favorites are Tarascos in Cary and Fiesta Grill on Highway 54 going towards Saxapahaw

It seems like every time I go into El Cerro Grande on S. Saunders, I'm the only white person amongst a ton of hispanics.

Only way I could tell if it's good Mexican food or not.

Ate there last night, its really good, and the place inside is pretty snazzy. 10/10, would recommend.

although, they don't have their liquor license yet, so no beer yet

Two weeks in a row they've missed out on my patronage because they don't have beer yet. Went to Ruckus again today for lunch.

fiesta grill has the best mexican food i've had in NC. one of the few pluses to living in chapel hill is that it's close

There are to El Cerro's here in Havelock not half bad but nothing like Dos Taquitos in Raleigh. If its anything like the one here they will have good lunch specials.

i swear the area around ncsu is a friggin wasteland when it comes to restaurants...and this shit doesn't help at all. hell rockolo had pretty decent food considering...

i have to go to/near crossroads or cameron village to get quality lunch eats. costs me an extra 15 minutes or so but it's a good trade off.
