when i was 18 i worked as a lifeguard for the parks & recreation department. a lot of the same rowdy kids came to the pool every afternoon and on this particular afternoon we ended up kicking out these 3 brothers for their behavior. i guess they had been beating each other up outside because when their mom came to pick them up she came in the lobby screaming saying i had assaulted one of her boys. after several attempts to calmly explain how they had been asked to leave because of their behavior did not work i told her she was white trash and their behavior was a direct reflection of her poor parenting. i grabbed my bags and walked out the door as she screamed at another coworker asking for my name and the number of our supervisor. as i walked out the door i told her she could go fuck herself. and then i got "fired" for the rest of the summer but was asked to please come back next summer because the program is always understaffed. awesome.

I was fired from Sammy's.

If you have met Sammy you know how big a dick he is. Because of this I started looking for other jobs. Needless to say I stopped caring about my performance or the place in general. One day I went out on Lake Jordan with some regulars on a boat and drank all day. From noon till about 7. I was supposed to be at work at 7. Anyway, I showed up to work late and wasted. The next day I promptly got an email saying I would no longer be needed.

i had a couple other jobs i probably should have been fired from but my coworkers and supervisors were so incredibly incompetent and lazy that firing me would have revealed that they shouldn't have had their jobs in the first place... so... ya know.... woooooooooo

I've never been fired...but I'm kind of surprised that I've been at my current job for 2 years without getting fired.

I yell and talk shit to customers that piss me off, and do shady shit to get out of taking phone calls but I guess I just haven't been caught yet.

I worked in the shop at a car dealer and scratched a co-workers rim. one Saturday. My boss called me in his office on Monday near the end of the day and asked me about what had happened on Saturday. He then said that some other customer claimed I had scratched their rim too, so he said, "You are costing me money! Times are slow, so I am going to have to let you go." My cousin was coming to town the next week anyway for his spring break, so I had the entire week off which worked out nice. Then I worked with my dad all summer and went back to Wake Tech in the fall.

About 2 weeks from now when the semester ends I will be 6 credit hours away from graduating from NC State. The fall will be my last semester. There was a side of me that had always wanted to go back to college though. Getting fired was the best thing that ever happened to me. Since then I have taken golf lessons at Wake Tech, tennis lessons at NC State, and racquetball lessons at NC State. I have no clue where my future is taking me and what type of job I will get after college, but the ride has been enjoyable and worth it. If I had to do it all over again the one thing I would do different is start working towards a 4 year degree right after high school instead of waiting till my high school class graduated from college. Going back late kind of effects people socially. I met a lot of people right away below the age of 21 who couldn't hang out at the bar with me because they were under aged and I was over 21 and ready to party.

I don't know if this counts as a firing.

I was working a job while I was in high school. When I graduated I took a month off of work to travel. When I came back the store manager had changed. I was talking to a shift supervisor and they go, "Oh yeah, btw you don't work here anymore."

I was and called corporate to see wtf was going on. They said I had quit and had papers I "signed" saying as much. I had them fax me the papers and they were all forgeries Turns out the old manager had decided that a bunch of people who were on vacation when he quit had suddenly "quit" the job as well. It just happened I was the first one to come back from vacation to find this out.

At least I got a fatty check from them in the end

I probably souldn't have added the second paragraph, but it's a word of advise that should be passed along to everyone. I've discovered that the people who didn't try to go to college after high school are more pissed off when they get to be 40+ years old. The one guy at the car dealer that didn't seem to hate his job earned an English degree from NC State, but enjoyed working on cars.

Yeah
Crazy Fire

It was by far the craziest night I'd worked in almost a year. As in, there was actually a wait. I had no problems about taking care of other waiter's tables, because the customers always made sure I was the one who ended up with the tip. mikecl713 was a "manager" and supposed to run the register, because us lowly non-family staff couldn't be trusted (son of one of the owners) Since he was never around, we all rang out our tables anyway. He sure as hell didn't mind.

That night, I was so busy that I couldn't do either of these. In the back, gave [nephew of owner] his table slip, and said "I can't take care of your tables any more. Here." and then I said "Mike, you need to go run the register because none of the rest of us have time any more." It was him, [nephew], and a couple other guys playing poker (or something...I forget what).

At the end of the night, he's like "You don't need to come back". I thought he was joking

I found out much later through the CF/other common denominator grapevine that what I had said wasn't the problem. It was that I, a female, had told a male what to do in front of his family members . He comes by it honestly, though: this kid's father is the most misogynistic person I've ever dealt with. He tried to tell me the AC was working because the fan was running, even though it was upper 90s in the dining area

I've since seen him working for university dining, and I've always wondered how that came to be.

^^^That's someone being an asshole...not you being fired.

^^ That's what corporate tried to tell me at first

^ Yeah it did suck, but in the end it was for the best. That place was poorly managed and I was able to get a much better job once I started at State.

I got fired from Kmart back in high school.

On a dare, I asked this really hot chick if she was wearing panties.

My boss thought it was funny, but he pretty much had to fire me for that one.

they said my productivity was low

which it was
because the job was tedious and depressing and in the basement

but I did cheer everyone else up
cause I was told after I left that productivity dropped across the board

I worked with JohnnyTHM, ask him about it
