Alright, so I have a 2004 Mazda 3 Hatch. I was driving it home from church and had decided to push the car a little bit, taking it to 5000 RPM before I shifted into 3rd (Automatic with Manumatic option). I usually don't push my car past 4000 RPM.

Anyway, my foot is on the gas and I can tell that the car is losing power and not accelerating like it is supposed to. The car starts to hesitate and I can tell that its definitely not responding to the accelerator. I shift into a lower gear to see if that would work, no go. I end up coasting to the side of the road and turn the car off. I restart the car, and it runs for about a second before it cuts off. It does this repeatedly.

I'm in the process of getting it towed. I'm guessing that it's either something to do with the fuel pump or something to do with the ignition. I'm not a car person at all, so I really don't have any idea. Any help from you guys would help a lot.

Sounds like somebody ran outta gas. Like you forgot to fill it up.

Or your fuel filter is full of shit.

Or you accidentally filled it up with water.

Or the fuel pump shit the bed.

i wonder if the Mazda 3 has a fuel pump diagnostic connector like the older Mazdas did. you would jumper that and listen to hear the pump running.
