I looked and didn't see a thread yet, I guess everybody was waiting for me to make it.
We're winning the AL Central this year. Horrible hitting and solid pitching. 4/15/2009 11:36:38 PM |

When is Billy Butler going to win the batting title? Probably never, but he's like the Arizona Cardinals of trendy NFC picks...except the Cardinals actually did well last year...AL Central is too good...I bet the Royals finish 5th...nothing personal 4/15/2009 11:38:36 PM |

the AL Central is terrible, get out of here with that blasphemy. The White Sox overachieved whenever they won the world series, the Indians have no pitching and ok hitting, detroit should be better but can't get shit together. I guess that leaves Minnesota as the only competition.
Personally I'm waiting for Alex Gordon to break out and be a 30-30 guy, he's at least as good as David Wright, he just needs to realize it. Greinke's been in the league for like 9 years and he's 24, so it's time for his Cy Young season too. 4/15/2009 11:42:03 PM |

Couldn't hold off the Indians today, but took 2 of 3 from them. Farnsworth needs to get back on the juice, he sucks without it. 4/15/2009 11:46:36 PM |

my bad, i thought he was my age, graduated a year earlier though. drafter in 2002 and was a fulltime starter in 2004, and not a bad one at that too. i was kidding about the 9 years, but it seems like it's been a long time. anyways, if hochevar can ever amount to anything and knock one of those 3-4-5 pitchers out, and they get another bat (or aviles is actually good, or butler steps up, or gordon steps up) they could be a serious contender.
Honestly I don't expect them to be good this year, much like I didn't expect the Rays to be that good last year, but another year they could be (I thought it would take another year for the Rays) 4/15/2009 11:54:36 PM |

Good win last night, good game by Meche and Teahen. puts the royals in sole posession of first place in the central. it's all a battle for the wild card for the rest of the central now 4/18/2009 3:58:12 PM |

actually I think that's defined as "achieving" on the south side
the royals have set the bar low for themselves... achieving to them is probably not coming in 5th place4/18/2009 4:26:40 PM |

Can't believe i forgot about Brian Bannister. 6 shut out innings tonight, another win to stay tied for the division lead. 4/22/2009 11:20:00 PM |

Bannister was great the first half of last season and then completely went to shit.
Greinke is the top pitcher in baseball so far. Shut out the Rangers, that's quite a feat. 4/22/2009 11:22:36 PM |
BJCaudill21 Not an alcoholic 8015 Posts user info edit post |
yeah I didn't realize Bannister's good year was 2 years ago, thought it was last year.
and I think I heard Greinke has 36 straight scoreless innings? It'd have to be from last year too, since he's only thrown 3 games. I'll look it up sometime. 4/22/2009 11:24:48 PM |

bump for the 11-3 win today. still tied for the division lead with the white sox and tigers. not worried about the sox, they suck. tigers may or may not be contenders.
Greinke gave up his first ER in 44 innings. Still got the W, 5-0. 4/29/2009 11:44:13 PM |

no kidding, i don't like him either. too bad the royals don't have any good OF prospects.. maybe they can trade one of their young guys (they have a pretty solid 3B coming up) or Alex Gordon for somebody young that can be an everyday CF for a few years before going on to the yankees. 5/7/2009 12:22:45 AM |

I'd rock a KC hat even though I've never been there and have never seen them play live and probably couldn't even tell you where Kansas City is geographically...
Wait, that's why I hate Boston fans, nevermind.
I'll still wish good things for 'em though. 5/16/2009 2:07:03 PM |
BJCaudill21 Not an alcoholic 8015 Posts user info edit post |
That's exactly why I made this thread. I bought a KC hat during spring training, just cause I wanted a royal blue hat and figured LA was too bandwagonny. So if you ever see the guy in the KC hat it's probably me, I haven't seen too many others.
4 game series with the Orioles, gotta at least split today, really shoulda won 3 if they wanted to not suck this year. 5/17/2009 11:22:01 AM |

Royal Blue? Get a Duke hat. lol.
btw were you at the Bulls game on Friday? Some dude there was rockin' the KC 5/17/2009 4:44:10 PM |
BJCaudill21 Not an alcoholic 8015 Posts user info edit post |
^nope, no bulls games yet this year. I guess somebody else really does have a KC hat
damn hochevar got the hook a little early today, 3.1 innings 2 ER, 3 walks though. his 2 starts so far have been pretty shaky, and they'll need him to be pretty solid if they're gonna actually have a shot at any playoffs. But at least they beat the orioles, held them to 4 hits, split the series 2-2.
Big series starts Tuesday against the Injuns. Let's go Royals! (i wonder if they have some other name for them.. Roys? something..) 5/17/2009 7:31:53 PM |

nope, i wouldn't read the thread either, but i bought a KC hat before the season because I wanted a blue hat, so now i'm their fan. i really thought they could have a decent team, and really i thought Detroit could be good after their horrible years, and then I said somewhere on here that the Rays would win a couple pennants soon, and now I just wanted to create a thread in case I was right again.
but i probably won't be. 6/1/2009 6:00:55 PM |
