i assume you really want the 13.3" screen vs a more common 14.1"/15.4"

doesn't look like a horrible deal...doesn't look spectacular either.

I'll go for some more research, thanks for the links!

i would never go bigger than a 14.1", so a 13.3" would be nice

but the AMD proc is a deal breaker for me...until they step up their game, i'd not go with anything that isn't a c2d

yeah, don't buy an AMD right now. they've been sucking it up for the past few years, esp on mobile procs.

here's a better deal:

uh...

the thinkpad is a staple of corporate america, and the design hasn't really been updated in years

but if you're buying a laptop based on looks alone, perhaps I can help direct you to your local apple store.

yeah, i'd only recommend an HP intel core 2 duo - AMD is gonna disappoint you

i'm glad i got mine on black friday - prices haven't been anywhere close since then.

i have a 14.1" c2d hp and i like it, especially for the price

my complaints - the touchpad kinda blows (it's weirdly sensitive at times and others it's slow to respond)...also, it (apparently) acquired a static charge which kept it from working...hp tech support diagnosed it immediately and we fixed it (turn it off, pop out the battery, unplug it, hold the power button down for 30 second, turn it back on), but it was still annoying

yeah the touchpad is kinda weird - not the sensitivity but the material they used on mine - it's like a metallic finish which i don't like too much but i can live with it. i bought a microsoft arc mouse for long periods of use anyways so i'm happy.

haven't had the static issue with the laptop actually even though i'm really statically charged most of the time in the winter from wearing fleece.
