I haven't seen Drop Dead Fred in many years. As a kid I watched it a hand full of times, always enjoying it a great deal. I'm confidant if I saw it now it wouldn't hold much more appeal than mere nostalgia. The thought of remake doesn't excite me, but I'm not clear why it insights hostility in others.

If memory serves me, the original Drop Dead Fred was not a success by traditional standards, neither box office receipts nor critical receptive were strong. So, since Drop Dead Fred was mostly a "failure," yet it still contained an interesting/fun idea at its core, wouldn't it be a movie appropriate for a remake.

And yeah, if it somehow brought Phoebe Cates back into all our lives then what's the harm?

I definitely don't think this is remake-worthy. It was great when I was a kid, but nowadays...I dunno. Though I guess it could be the same to kids these days as it was to us 17 years ago.

Here's a cool thing. Next time you watch, really question whether Drop Dead Fred is real or not. Think of it as Cates having a life crisis, losing her mind, causing destruction, and blaming it on her childhood imaginary friend. Makes it a really dark comedy.

I'm confused as to what your point is because I thought the entire premise of the movie was about him being an imaginary friend..so why would we need to question if he was real or not?

i saw this movie one time a looooong time ago and barely remember it. Then one day like 3-4 years ago we got a copy of it for free with a large pizza. I think it was dominos. We got that and leaving las vegas. Neither were ever watched.
