^ had a sleepover at a friend's house. She has a huge backyard, so we camped there.

Shakori was great. Stayed in the woods for the first time, and ended up in tick heaven. Other than that, though, good stuff. How was it for you?

Can anyone suggest a place to camp out at the beach? I don't want a campground, since it will be just one night. Looking to make a fire and camp out right on the beach.

I've camped at Shackleford banks a couple times and at Cape Lookout once or twice. Make sure you have any burn permits if you need them and if they have a burn ban or not. You have to bring your own firewood because you're not allowed to take wood from the island. Also, you need a boat to get to either of these places.

there is no burn ban currently (you just gotta keep it out of the dunes) and we are bringing wood, and have never had any problem grabbing extra out of the woods

Should have mentioned that I don't have a boat. Any place that doesn't require a boat to get to?

We used to do that too and stay at the fish camps. There is a ferry that runs from Davis Island and one from Atlantic. OR you can load a four-wheeler in the front of a flat bottom skiff and get it to the shore relatively easy though.

We would have two boats usually. One loaded down with firewood and supplies, the other with people and food. If we couldn't do that we'd make two trips. It was easier to bring wood with us than having to hunt for it in the dunes.

yeah, alger willis ran from davis, but i thought it got shut down after the skippers tested positive for illegal substances after USCG investigated after they run aground and USCG had to come out and help
