A friend of mine called me last night to tell me about getting shot at, (see http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=565527) and me being drunk wanted to start shit. However, the call was well after the incident and I was mainly just bullshitting. Another friend of mine, lets call him "Devon", was staying with me and overheard my conversation with ThePeter, words along the lines of "DAMN! you alright? did you get a license plate number? is he still around, can we start shit?" blah blah blah. Now I should probably mention that "Devon" is about to graduate from cop school, he's up here to apply to the NC State cops. He typically thinks he's a badass and he's the shit; I don't think cop school helped that at all. Well apparently, he in his infinite wisdom, decided that because I was drunk there shouldn't be loaded guns in my room. I always have loaded guns in my room. Anyway, he unloaded my pistol that is on my bedside table and hid the magazine. Its partially the thought of it (I have 2 more loaded guns hidden that I suppose he didn't know about, as well as another full magazine) but it still completely infuriated me. I politely asked him to leave my house and a pretty big fight followed. I ended up telling him that I thought I might have overreacted and he could stay the night but just not to make any more plans here, he said something along the lines of "you couldn't pay me enough to stay here".

But my main question is, was that unreasonable on my part?

Oh and I realize drunk and guns don't mix, I'm going to go ahead and preempt the inevitable post saying that by stating that nothing was different about tonight, my gun is always there, its always loaded no matter what I'm doing. Its not like I was drunk and waving it around or threatening to go shoot somebody, or even holding it for that matter. I wasn't even thinking about it, it literally had no place in my thoughts, plans or ideas for the night.

Alright gun nuts, back me up!

Your "friends" shouldn't go around fucking with your property. You had the right to ask him to leave, and you said you did it politely.
I know plenty of people who keep loaded guns in their room for protection. Not a big deal.
Your friend sounds like a big-headed douche.

Man you guys hate to read, it takes like a minute.

anyway, it does sound like he was being a douche, if its the way you tell it, your guns had nothing to do with the incident, I guess weather you overreacted depends on how often hes this much of a douche.

I have multiple loaded firearms in my room. They are out of sight, but I know where they are. If someone thought that it was better for me to go unload them because I had been drinking I would be pissed.

I'm not in the room, I"m not playing with them. If I'm out in my living room drinking with friends and dicking around then they don't enter into the equation.

You may have over reacted, you may not have, none of us were there so we can't really tell you the answer.

Unless you were blatantly breaking some laws, motherfucker had no right to do that to you. Would he appreciate somebody messing with his shit, especially if it was firearm-related? You were well within your bounds. Next time tell him that he can't go on a power trip until he becomes an actual cop.

he's going to be a cop so he's already in the mindset that he is one and that everything he does is "right".

my thoughts

he was trying to look out for you. It's like drunk people who get pissed when someone takes their keys from them.

^^exactly. he was already somewhat like that anyway, and that sure as hell doesn't help.

BLET for those of you who apparently hate my use of the phrase cop school

^ What is upsetting about that is he knows me, we grew up together and we've both always been around guns. There is no way I should be using a gun when I'm drunk, and I know that, I had no intention of using it. I'm not even sure where the idea came from, but the true insult comes from the fact that he doesn't trust me.
When somebody is at their own house drinking with no intention of leaving would you take their keys then?
