http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.eonline.com/wolverines-ryan-reynolds-dives-deadpool-spinoff-20090506

I was liking everything I read up until this:

Quote :
"But along with superhuman powers, enhanced strength and self-regenerating healing powers, the slightly unhinged Deadpool can absorb the abilities of dead and captured mutants."

Absorb the abilities of other mutants?! Noooooooooooo! Why can't they just leave Deadpool the way he's supposed to be? Maybe next they'll give Captain America the ability to fly. And he's bulletproof. Oh yeah, and Iron Man is also telepathic. I wonder if this will be a character reboot, or are they going to try some resurrection continuity-wise with that awful attempt at Deadpool from the Wolverine movie? (Yes, I saw the Deadpool ending where he retrieves his head.)

This is made by Fox.

Captain America is being made by Marvel Studios, I think we can trust them to keep more true to the character.

It's also why we won't see any crossovers between Avengers, X-men, and Spider-Man, they are all made by different studios.

I don't understand why movie studios feel the need to have to change things like this.

This might be worth watching because

1) Wade Wilson in Wolverine was funny as shit
2) I don't know much about Deadpool
3) ...
4) Profit

^^ As Wilson he was pretty cool

The cutting bullets in half thing was bullshit, but whatever.

Deadpool at the end was retarded. They need to cut out all of his powers except healing and strength. Also take out his retarded Baraka claws.

ScubaSteve, while Schwartz is pretty big for the OC, he's also behind Chuck (along with McG), which is a pretty solid show. I wouldn't doubt him just yet. Besides, First Class is the young Cyclops/Jean Grey/other young X-Men film, X-Men Origins: Magneto is the Magneto film.

Sadly, it looks like he will not be.

You and me both. Ryan Reynolds is an incredible cast for this, so all the writers of this new movie have to do is give him something good to work with. They just need to stick to what the character can do, not lump in a bunch of other crap.

Most people aren't aware that Deadpool is NOT a mutant. He wasn't born with any special powers. His healing ability is artificial and has actually cased him a lot of damage psychologically which is largely why he's so completely insane.

I've started wondering if the current Deadpool writers will take a couple of jabs at the (failed) movie incarnation. This is one of the few characters who often breaks the fourth wall, and I know it'd be right up the character's alley.

Oh, and for anyone who is not familiar with this character, I highly recommend reading Deadpool: Circle Chase. Also, the first few issues of the newest Deadpool series (where he infiltrates the Skrull Secret Invasion force) are quite possibly the best written Deadpool stories yet. It's like a case study on how to be completely insane to the point of screwing up your enemies so badly that they can't think straight.

^^ hell if the writers were pressed on time just reading the "powers" section on the wiki would suffice.

Don't know much about everyone's beloved character, I only remember him as a secondary character in the beginnings of X-Force, but the little I do know makes me think they (movie studios) felt like they had to do something to distinguish him from Wolverine. From their perspective he's "just another guy who heals".

He's shitfucking insane
That should be enough of a distinction for them.

Frankly I don't care what powers he has, so long as they keep the humorous-but-awesome insanity and have him break the fourth wall occasionally.

That said, they will almost definitely fuck up that aspect (the most important aspect) of the character.

Yeah, he does but sometimes his mask is drawn in such a way that it's not very prominent. His whole body - especially his face - is grossly disfigured as a result of the Weapon X artificial healing factor given to him to "cure" his cancer.

i highly doubt they'll use the mask and they'll probably make him a mutant (like they did with Juggernaut),

They'll probably have the mask some times, but he'll just keep ripping it off to talk (ala the Spiderman failures)

They haven't used a original costume in an X-men movie yet.

Magneto got a helmet and cape and that was the closest.

Deadpool's costume is already well tuned for the modern world. Red and black leather on a psychotic would match what the X-Men adopted, rather than the blue and yellow spandex costumes of Cyclops and Wolverine.

Maybe they'll modify it, but I could still see a red/black theme easily. Otherwise, its Ryan Reynolds running around shirtless in whatever pants he finished Wolverine in. Or maybe he'll don the costume that Wade Wilson wore during the movie, plus a mask to hide his horrific face?

yea i really don't see what purpose it serves to make such dramatic changes to the characters. wtf is the point of adding shit to make enhance the action just to leave the movie riddled with plot holes and pissing off the fans.sure the action brings in casual viewers but it also stops the diehards from seeing a movie more than once, and or buying the dvd/bluray release. sorry the deadpool at the end of the wolverine movie pissed me off.

I bet they go with Wade Wilson's gear and no mask. They want Reynolds likeness to be in the movie to some degree.

you'd think the studio wouldn't let an actor being more than 1 superhero at the same time.
