Whats the point of closing the Oblivion Gates? You get no achievement. Maybe its part of the story? I haven't gotten that far yet though.
5/7/2009 11:21:40 PM
it stops the n00bs from taking over
5/7/2009 11:22:53 PM
is this some nerdy gaming shit?
5/7/2009 11:25:08 PM
you get an achievement for closing some of them. i think there are nice items you can get from doing it, like daedric shit
5/7/2009 11:26:31 PM
You get Sigil Stones when you close the gates. If you're a spellcaster and at least level 17, you can get a Sigil Stone that boosts your Magicka by 50 pts, which is pretty fucking baller./NERD
5/7/2009 11:32:42 PM
you get xp, you get to kill things, you can get stuff in there that you can't get elsewhere (bloodgrass, etc)...also, it's part of the plot. you're the one that has to go in and destroy them all.
5/7/2009 11:36:22 PM
I'm about to get my Daedric Artifact at the Shrine of Azura for the main story line. How far would you say I am because I want to know if I should continue it or do some guild work.Level 11 right now[Edited on May 7, 2009 at 11:39 PM. Reason : asd]
5/7/2009 11:39:15 PM
Make sure the enchant 5 different items with 20% chameleon each. Sometimes it is nice to be completely invisible.
5/7/2009 11:42:28 PM
1 word, 1 syllablewow
5/7/2009 11:43:32 PM
Oh, and I don't know what you think but back when I played this game I loaded my own music into the 360. The music on the game is horrible.
5/7/2009 11:46:13 PM
Really? I enjoyed it.
5/7/2009 11:55:33 PM
i never really did much on the main storyline. last time i played i made myself listener (highest position i think) of the black hand. i'm only like a 21 but i'm so badass with the blade no one can beat me (especially with some of the weapons i've made)
5/7/2009 11:57:06 PM
anyone play The Witcher? playing it now
5/7/2009 11:58:44 PM
Screw Bethesda games on console, mods make this game 10x as good.

I seriously don't know how to play this game. Its way too complex. All I do is sell items and quest. Don't enchant anything, make anything with alchemy, or anything else. Don't know what half the items do. I had to set the difficulty real low to beat that last quest. I'm thinking I need to level more.
5/8/2009 12:38:43 AM
the opponents mostly level to you, i didnt sleep for the first half of the quest so i wouldnt level and was able to do fine, especially since you can still find the good weapons if you know where to look.
5/8/2009 12:41:42 AM
I have 15000 gold, is there anywhere I can buy some good armor/weapons/spells?
5/8/2009 12:43:18 AM
Leveling is good. Practicing skills is better, depending on whatever class you picked at the start of the game. The fighters guild's earlier quests are decent for leveling up a little bit. You should make sure to keep an eye out for enchanted stuff like amulets and rings. Those can be stupid useful (i.e. they can protect you from damage or magic, boost your skills, reflect damage, absorb magic, even make you walk on water). If you're interested in getting into the game more and figuring out those details, go search for the oblivion wiki. Bunch of other nerds already spent all their free time compiling every detail about that game. You also don't need to dick around with the enchanting stuff and magic unless you really want to. It's not entirely necessary to enjoy the game. First time I ran through the game I just had this dude who was totally bad ass at cutting people to death and who could take a hell of an ass whoopin and keep going. Boost your endurance when you level up and get skilled in heavy armor (or light armor if you want). Keep a few choice enchanted items on your person (some rings, maybe some special armor) and you'll be golden.Don't forget that you can wait for 1 hour (as long as there aren't any assholes nearby) and you'll regenerate all lost health, fatigue, and magicka. Helpful as crap when you start dealing with certain enemies. Now I am going to be looked at as the most vile, foul creature that posts on here. Damn you GroundBeef.[Edited on May 8, 2009 at 12:46 AM. Reason : ^ The best armor/weapons/shit is found. The best spells are made at the arcane academy.]
5/8/2009 12:45:50 AM
I feel like such a cheater. Every time the main questline has really hard enemies I put the difficulty as low as possible . I've only been to two stores in the whole game. I used to go to caves/ruins/etc. when going around on the horse but now I just use the map move function and skip them all.
5/8/2009 3:23:37 AM
5/8/2009 3:33:54 AM
^I accidently let XBL patch the game and i can't dup
5/8/2009 4:00:39 AM
I'm hoping FallOut 3 doesn't have trip skip so I'm not tempted to skip over everything.
5/8/2009 4:03:24 AM
it has quick travel
5/8/2009 4:04:46 AM
Well I like fps better anyways.Forgot which class I chose in ESO but my marksman skills are weak and I can't block for shit so I mostly revolve around destruction spells and shitty swordplay while circling enemies.
5/8/2009 4:07:12 AM
i just sneak up on everyone and hit them with my level 135 blade skillz and my bad ass enchanted daedric shit fucks their world up (drain enemy's hp, magicka, stamina, i think i have another that breaks their armor and weapon... i have some badass shit)
5/8/2009 4:10:04 AM
nary a vagina in sight
5/8/2009 4:16:53 AM
selling sigil stones is also a great way to make money.also, fuck Achievements.
5/8/2009 5:45:24 AM
as much as I have played Oblivion, I never actually finished the actual main quests...
5/8/2009 5:53:12 AM
I beat all the quests and played all the expansions. This is probably one of the top 10 best RPGs ever made. Also, if you can afford it, play it on PC instead of console. The graphics and controls are far superior depending on your system's badassability.
5/8/2009 8:58:11 AM
i've got more than 210 hours logged on oblivion (2 characters) with the shivering isles expansion and a myriad of quest mods...i could probably go back and replay it again and be happydefinitely one of the best RPGs ever...morrowind was also awesome...i'm looking forward to the new elder scrolls next year

My suit of armor that combined gives me 100% chameleon has ruined the game for me.
5/8/2009 12:08:43 PM
yeah 100% chameleon just makes the game pointlessly easy
5/8/2009 1:06:52 PM
I am an Eliminator for the Dark Brotherhood which I suspect has turned me into a vampire. I found a way to get a cure but need to get into the Arcane University which I don't have the key for. Is there any other way to get rid of this or does it have benefits? All I notice now is not being able to go out in the sun.
5/8/2009 8:27:34 PM
5/8/2009 8:50:49 PM
fuck i'm a vampire now, now I have waste mad lockpicks at inns to get my damn blood, fuck this shit.
5/8/2009 8:57:27 PM
duplicate lock picks.
5/8/2009 9:23:58 PM
You can get into the lobby of the arcane university, just not the university itself (through the gates, or through the doors in the lobby which lead into the university). You can go back out into the sun if you feed regularly. Also note that when you're lock picking there is one certain sound that indicates a solid lock pick. The lock pin will go up slower when you hit it just right and will make this sound, and it will stay compressed for a short period of time. If you're just clicking every time it goes up, you're going to be wasting lockpicks. I'm sure there's a video on youtube of how to pick locks in oblivion with the correct sound you need to listen for.
5/8/2009 9:26:53 PM
learn how to pick locks without auto-picking
5/8/2009 9:57:42 PM
I feed and get down to 25 vampirism then when I wait for 2 hours I get back up to 50 like I was asleep. Then another time I wait for 11 hours and my vampirism doesn't go up. How does that work?
5/8/2009 10:09:14 PM
Mmm, try feeding twice?I dunno, read the oblivion wiki. I cheat-cured my vampirism because I thought it was bullshit and not an interesting part of the game.
5/8/2009 11:13:27 PM
^You know, there's a sidequest to cure it so you could have done it without breaking a ridiculous amount of suspension of disbelief.gg.
5/8/2009 11:16:04 PM
I've done the sidequest. The second time I just cheated the vampirism cure into existence because I didn't want to go through all that crap again. It was more annoying than not.
5/8/2009 11:17:00 PM
So if I have waited at least a week (in game) and no quest comes up for Shivering Isles I'm guessing I don't have the Game of the Year edition?
5/10/2009 12:32:39 AM
If you don't have a quest with the initial text talking about a strange gate opening in niben bay, then yeah, you don't have the GOTY edition.[Edited on May 10, 2009 at 12:36 AM. Reason : The messages about this would pop up during the tutorial.]
5/10/2009 12:36:20 AM
All told, I preferred Morrowind to Oblivion. The dialogue, despite being text, was far superior, and the plot was much much cooler.
5/10/2009 4:08:55 PM
I would like to play morrowind because i loved Oblivion so much but i am afraid that the graphics would be too much of a turn off to really get into it by this point.
5/10/2009 4:11:45 PM
you would probably get used to them
