It seems that they are currently sitting in first place. Pretty sure they finished at or near the bottom the last two years, so that's a nice turnaround.

That's no different than any other sporting event. You have to buy your alcohol inside and not bring it in. I would have went, if I didn't a graduation party for a friend to go to.

^^ not sure if you consider nascar a sport but you can bring whatever you want in. As long as it is not in a glass bottle. it's part of the reason I'm a nascar fan.

ha, you can bring as much canned beer into any race you want to. as long as you bring coolers that are no bigger than 14"x14"

funny. however i didnt anything about coolers. guess i need to pay more attention to that. Or i was just siding with you by saying the guy was wrong. take it however you want, but soccer is fucking boring anyway.

So I'm in Southern Arizona....watching the news....turn to a Spanish channel and they're talking about FUTBOL EN CAROLINA DE NORTE...DE CAROLINA RAILHAWKS MAGNIFICO

I was like

then they just kept talking up the Railhawks like they're tomorrow's version of the Yankees of American soccer.

Weird...

I hate it that they have a dance team at the Railhawks games. Cheerleading is for football and basketball. On top of that the Railhawks Dance Team is made up of middle school and high school girls. They could at least make them college girls like the canes do.

they used to have a dance team comprised of college-aged girls because i know a few girls who were on the team

i havent been to a game in 2 years though so i am assuming they got rid of that team and replaced it with kids

^As far as I know it was always high school girls. Some are probably in college now though.

Tuesday is the first round of the US Open Cup vs the Richmond Kickers. I'm planning on going.

the fact that they are HS girls probably increases the fan turnout.

We won in the US Open Cup tonight 2 to 1 vs Richmond.

Thursday we play Portland and it is thirsty Thursday. That means $1 hot dogs and $1 beer.

We tied Portland 0-0 tonight. We had a player given a red card and Portland was allowed to foul us all they wanted without even getting a yellow card.

They've only done it the last two games... probably to entice fans to come to weekday games.

They should probably keep it up though, I imagine it would get a lot more college-age kids out there.

http://www.usllive.com - you have to sign up for an account but it's free.. all of their games are on there.

Good deal, the thought of going to a game crossed my mind last week. I think $1 beer may have sold me for the next game.

haha...I need to venture in sports talk more. Didn't know there was a thread for the railhawks.

I've been to every game this year so far and they're a lot of fun. Definitely worth while for living in Raleigh. And they're actually really good.

Lost to the Wilmington Hammerheads tonight in PKS in the US Open Cup though

Pretty crazy game, 1-1 after 90 minutes, 3-3 after 30 minutes extra time

^ I think that just means you can't bring your own beer in. Also, I don't think they're strict on the camera/umbrellas rules

CR tie it at 1-1

Into OT we go

It was funny! Everytime they got a yellow card I ran down by their support group who traveled to Raleigh and they would start yelling at me.

One of my greatest sports memories is being drunk in Wilmington at the USOC game where they beat Dallas Burn.

Good times during the game, but the Irish guys in the Hammerheads' supporters group bought me too many beers after.

I'd be more inclined to attend Railhawks games if there was a promotion/relegation system in place.

They were going to be but they folded the offseason before the RailHawks started

actually I just looked at wiki and they have a PDL team called the Piranhas which is in the amateur league of the USL system. I thought it was strictly women's teams there since the Mariners folded but apparently I'm wrong

Yeah that game totally blew. The central defender looked terrible to whole game. Way too shaky. I can't believe they let him take that last PK. Plus he was wearing gloves even though it wasn't cold outside

I was the guy who yelled, "What the fuck was that call?" when the Railhawks player got carded in the 95th minute right after it got real quiet. Too much to drink...

But I think I'm gonna start going to more games. It was fun and the $1 beers didn't hurt either.
