We're taking the reactor critical tonight at Harris. Which is fantastic news for me. No more night shifts after tonight. The Dude will share the same opinion, I'm sure.

That's how I felt when brunswick 2 came online after the "34-day" outage that lasted 60 days.
5/9/2009 11:32:28 PM

5/9/2009 11:38:59 PM
what does all this mean
5/9/2009 11:56:17 PM
they had the unit down for an outage, where they do work they can only do when the unit is down. they're bringing it back to wide open or whatever tonight. hopefully, the work they did was done right and they don't blow up the state.

Taking the reactor critical should mean that it's producing power and will be in a stable, operational state again soon. You guys explain it though, I sound like a fool talkin' about this stuff.[Edited on May 10, 2009 at 12:01 AM. Reason : ^ This guy won the fight.]

Oh shi...
5/10/2009 12:01:36 AM
^^ Well sort of. Critical basically means neutron population is constant. Google K = 1 if you want to know more about criticality. We are not synced to the grid yet. That won't happen for a day or so.^^^ lol it won't get close to 100% power, or wide open as you call it, tonight. [Edited on May 10, 2009 at 12:04 AM. Reason : df]

Evan no offense but Brunswick is always the weake link for Progress Energy. The only thing they are good at is taking away the bonus for the rest of the company. To update, We went critical at 4:35 am last night.
