I buy a new dining room table..my parents drive it from Raleigh to Charlotte and left today and I just realized one side doesn't even work!

that's pretty cool
5/11/2009 7:20:14 PM
oh bother
5/11/2009 7:20:19 PM
Just use duct tape.It won't look as classy, but it'll work.
5/11/2009 7:20:40 PM
At least the table is hot
5/11/2009 7:21:38 PM
when would you ever want the sides down - what's an instance?
5/11/2009 7:22:08 PM
^MovingPutting it against the wallStorageGetting it out of the way so there's more space for partygoers to stand around drinking
5/11/2009 7:23:47 PM
can fat people sit on that?
5/11/2009 7:24:39 PM
its kind of neat, but a little to George Jetson for my liking.

or if you live in a REALLY small place (mines about 500 sq ft) so I have one up and one down right now and I was trying to see if I could have both sides up at the same time.

^^Is it that one won't raise or it won't fold?If it won't fold: Oh well...If it won't raise: Duct tape, OR put it against a wall and play ping-pong against yourself.^
5/11/2009 7:29:02 PM
quit trying to make your 500 sq ft apartment classy and just get one of these:it'd do about the same thing
5/11/2009 7:33:14 PM
Call your parents screaming and bitching why they didn't test the table before they brought it over
5/11/2009 7:33:49 PM
Apartment size is no reason to sacrifice class.High prices are the reason to sacrifice class.[Edited on May 11, 2009 at 7:35 PM. Reason : so this table is legit -- assuming your parents are giving it to you or whatever.]

Ive had a card table as my dining room table for 2 years. I'm ready for something a lot nicer especially since my condo is very nice. I wanted something that can change shapes quickly so if I ever have say 4 people come and eat dinner than I can fit that many people at my table. Also I want this thing to last for a long time.
5/11/2009 7:41:27 PM
a table that can seat 6-8 for a 500sqft apt? you're right - that's very reasonable i recommend a wrap-around sofa and a king sized bed to compliment the table
5/11/2009 7:45:39 PM
^ what? thats the whole point... you DONT want something big like that so you get something like she got so it doesnt take up a lot of room...
5/11/2009 7:47:08 PM
it sounds like she bought a table with the intention of keeping it folded down most of the time - where are the extra chairs going to be stored most of the time and then pulled out of when one side finally comes up
5/11/2009 7:50:21 PM
^ I assume that is what she will be doing since that makes sense...not sure how her chairs work but mine were designed to stack on top of each other so when people arent around 6 of them take up the equivalent floor space of one.
5/11/2009 7:51:42 PM
mine stack too. I could only buy 3 (thats all they had) so I have 2 out with the table and one in the corner

5/11/2009 8:16:06 PM
ugh, having a glass table without something underneath the glass would suck...it'll only look clean for about 15 minutes after you windex it
5/11/2009 8:25:24 PM
I can assure you, the only thing that doesn't work is the table itself. Ugh.
5/11/2009 11:14:51 PM
what about looking at folks' feet while you eat?
