http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/5128697/

Does anything think that this should extend to tax info as well? I've always thought that the tax information they put online is really too much.

go to wakegov.com and look at the taxes, you'll see.

you can find too much information about anyone.

The thing is that you can go down town and look up the information anyways. Whether it is online or not, someone can get the information if they want it bad enough.

SSNs shouldn't be posted. beyond that, i don't see the problem. like ^ said, you can get it if you want it.

i can see why it would be concerning to people

but, as someone that uses it on a daily basis for my job, it is a dream and makes the process much easier than driving to the counties' reg of deeds office to find said information. like this /message_topic.aspx?topic=297214&page=3596#12862963 would have probably taken me a week to figure out...tons of gas mileage...and cost our client a fortune in fees.

yeah i wasn't even looking up information on her--i just needed the legal description of a property.

anywho...nowadays, b/c of increase in identity theft, law offices are much more careful (or should be) when using their clients' SSN. only using last 4 or blacking it out on exchanged documents w/ other parties, etc. but we weren't when i started working in a law office just 7 years ago.

i used to work for a company that sent out our pay stubs with our SSNs on them. real smart there.

(this occurred months after NC passed the law forbidding this)

I support this bill.
There is no justifiable reason to have personal info available AT ALL, let alone on the web....

I don't think there should even be such a thing as a sex offender registry.
A criminal is either trusted in society and should be 100% free, or is not trusted in society and should remain locked up.

ok, if that's your belief. i can see that logic.
it was an honest question.

if anything happens with this bill, i just think it will take the "good" people's information off the web, and not the criminal's. that's not fair. (and i'm not defending sex offenders for their crimes, just for their rights as people)

everyone breaks the law, you can't lock them all up

Many laws need not exist. Very many, in fact. (Victimless crimes are not really crimes.)
Other crimes are so minor, perpetrators are not a threat to society.
A criminal is either a threat to society and should remain locked up, or is not a threat to society and should be 100% free.

^
While the world is not yes/no black/white this/that, some things are: law, for instance. Either something is legal or it is not. However, opinions regarding laws are not either/or.
(Nice try.)

Either all either/or statements are valid, or they all aren't.

I think knowing how much someone paid for a property should be private info, only available to those who need it, such as realtors, buyers, etc. The fact that someone can go look up their boss's house and see how much they paid etc, is a little much.

Also there is a record of their tax payments, and if you are default on them
