Quote :
"The average potency of marijuana, which has risen steadily for three decades, has exceeded 10 percent for the first time, the U.S. government will report on Thursday.

"

Quote :
"Potent marijuana also poses significant risk to the developing adolescent brain, said Edward Jurith, acting director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

"

oh no's better run to little johnny's sock drawer to check for him hiding this evil illegal substance!!

Quote :
"Increasing potency is leading to higher admissions to emergency rooms and drug treatment programs, officials say.

"

I call bullshit; what exactly are these emergency room visits for?? Burning ones finger while lighting the water pipe.

Quote :
"The average THC for tested marijuana during 2008 was 10.1 percent, according to the government, compared to 1983 when it was reportedly under 4 percent.

"

uh oh we better start cracking down!

Quote :
"The children I'm most worried about are children who are heavy users ... people who use it on a daily basis," said Dr. Lawrence Brain, a child psychiatrist in Maryland"

Perhaps if it were regulated and controlled like Beer the gov't could make it a lot more difficult for those under 21/18 to get. While at the same time allowing reasonable responsible adults to use the substance all while making $billiions in taxes to fund drug rehabilitation programs and law enforcement to drug programs to capture harder substances i.e crack meth, etc.

This guy looks tough! One of our heroes in stopping 15 yr olds from getting high and eating cheetos while watching cartoons

that's the key right there. Any gov funded study on drugs is so biased it's a joke.

But they gotta cook something up to combat the recent wave of legalization talk.

Kinda like a Global Warming report partially funded by ExXon or the heartland.org website by a republican think tank.

If the evidence is so substantial at the evil harms of pot and why its should be schedule I why than does the gov't keep so a tight lid preventing even accredited research companies and universities with TIER I medical programs from obtaining
marijuana samples with which peer reviewed studies can be conducted by tenured professional experts in the areas of toxicology and nuerology.

And yet, this medical doctor recommends that children use pot to treat AD/HD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6g8zskdxOPg

Complete bullshit.
More potent marijuana is healthier because you don't have to smoke as much...

It still amazes me how stupid officials are.

This should have been legalized years ago.

haha, are you kidding?

Most regular pot smokers smoke out of habit, not based on achieving a certain high. If smoking the same amount of something makes them higher, they're going to get higher, not smoke less.

First of all, it matters not what most people do. What matters is what they could do.
Also, the admittedly generally irresponsible habits of illegal pot smokers are certainly influenced by the abstinence-only education and counseling they receive about smoking pot. If pot were legal, society would be able to provide a more comprehensive education and counseling, that I contend would result in vastly more responsible marijuana use habits.

Well, it's probably a little of both for some, but many will genuinely smoke less. A very important point, however, is that high quality cannabis doesn't simply contain more THC. There are over 50 different cannabinoids that one might be consuming in various ratios that interact to produce different highs based on which cultivar of cannabis you're consuming. Schwag weed types contain a completely different cannabinoid profile than dank weed types -- So it's not even as simple as getting "higher". The highs associated with dank weed are qualitatively better than the highs associated with schwag. I realize that "better" is a subjective term, but the statement is still true.

When you get "high grade" marijuana, or marijuana with higher THC levels, you don't usually smoke as much as you would if it were lower grade. People (uhh, I should say - people on a budget) don't roll huge blunts with high grade, it's a waste. That's not to say that other people won't simply use the same amount for a smoke session that they had previously used for lower grade marijuana, but whatever.

In any case, high potency isn't really a bad thing. Certainly it's not a bad thing for the smoker - it enhances the value of the drug. It's not like any "bad side effects" of marijuana increase with higher potency, whatever those bad side effects would even be. The anti-legalization crowd really doesn't have a leg to stand on at this point.

Not entirely true. I see what you're saying, and generally yes, expensive weed on a budget is a no-no, but many people who smoke on a budget include at least some dank -- for special occasions, holidays, dates, etc.

Not true. I do not smoke b.c if i ever got hurt at my job i'd be drug tested. I do have a 'friend' though that i had to loan the
money to pay the electric bill; yet he manages to buy high quality pot from all the time. If he was not a childhood friend who
I know would pay me back i would have been like fuck NO though. Like fat people and alcoholics they simply cut back on other expenses first before foregoing food and booze.

it doesn't matter what potency you start with when you use butane cans to make hash oil.
