Sales Reps will sell FiOS TV/Internet in a Verizon wireless retail store/kiosk environment...We are currently hiring for full-time positions.
...Positions are located in Raleigh (Brier Creek Pkwy), and Durham (New Hope Commons Ext)." |
Someone posted something similar before u-verse came. I'm hoping the same happens in this case and it's not just some idiot who messed up on writing the ad. U-verse Max is nice, but 20 Mb upload for about the same price would be even nicer. My lease is about to expire and this would make me move to Durham.5/16/2009 5:29:03 AM |

considering verizon just sold off its entire landline network in NC, this is highly unlikely.

Quote : | "Verizon Sells Huge Chunk Of Network To Frontier $8.5 deal offloads swath of 'unprofitable' markets... 09:26AM Wednesday May 13 2009 by Karl Bode
Frontier Communications will pay $5.3 billion in common stock and take on $3.3 billion in debt in order to acquire Verizon's DSL and landline networks in Arizona, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin -- and some rural assets in California. Roughly 11,000 Verizon employees will be transferred to Frontier as part of the transaction, according to the companies." | ]5/16/2009 9:08:06 AM |

Hmm, guess my only choice for good internet around here is to move to Wilson. Anyone know someone there that I can just lease space from on their computer? 5/16/2009 7:16:24 PM |

I am not sure I agree, considering that their landline and DSL network duplicates service offerings over a different medium. If they sold their fiber that'd be one thing, but it sounds almost like they only sold their copper. The same article states that they did so to focus on FiOS and wireless in their more profitable markets.
I may have to move back to the triangle sooner if they drop FiOS on it 5/17/2009 2:27:45 PM |

^Thanks for that.
They might be temporarily halting since the FCC recently released their broadband plan. One of the points in that plan is to let companies lay down fiber on federal roads/projects, which could greatly decrease costs. They have a figure in the plan that says the cost of physically laying the fiber is ~80%.
I'm hoping Google comes here. Let's see how fast TW & AT&T try to innovate and compete then. 3/29/2010 3:13:54 PM |
