I had this 18% tint put on my windows while I was living in Florida for the past couple of years (it's a big necessity down there, especially since I have black leather seats). They don't have state inspections down there, so it was no biggie, but now I need to reregister my car in NC and I can't pass the inspection here.

I'm not about to rip the tint off my windows. Anyone know of someone I could bribe?

what do you want us to tell you? we ALL follow the laws here on tww. ALL of us have catalytic converters and legal (35% on fronts) tint on our cars. i'm sure you have a shitty tint job anyway so you are better off taking it to TVP auto in cary and having them redo it with a better quality, legal tint job.

I've never heard of someone being pulled over for their tint. Pulled over for speeding and then ticketed for tint, sure... Don't think they can make you roll your windows up either way.

And even then you can and probably will get pulled over and tested for tint. I had it done to me on Kent road once, I think it was because they had just issued some new digital tint readers and they wanted to try them out.

Just pay the special "tint fee". This is how someone I "know" passed "his" honda civic on inspection 4 years while in college with 18% tint. Go to one of the quick shops in the ghetto or in rural hickville NC, slip a $20 in the cup holder when they mention your tint, $profit.

This is what I assumed I would have to do. If you could name or suggest a specific place, not even a person, that would be most helpful. My knowledge of the Raleigh area is limited pretty much to the greater NCSU campus and Crabtree Valley Mall. :/

gotta pass 32% of light in NC. mine passes 31.5% consistently and it's hell getting it passed. it's got 35% film from the guy who had it before me, but combined with the glass it comes to 31.5%. it sucks.

tint is $11 a roll at the auto parts store. just replace it after the inspection. youll get good at it after a few years
