So I have this laptop that had Spyware 2009/all kinds of trojans on it (but was still booting)...I remove the drive, plus it in to a USB adapter (all very carefully), and the drive won't come up in My Computer etc on 2 other computers.
So I put the drive back into the laptop and all the sudden it's "no bootable drive found." There's no clicking or noise, and I can tell it's powering on and spinning up. Any ideas on what to try to get the drive bootable again?
Also whats some good file recovery software for a situation like this? I've used Undelete in the past but I wanna know what else is out there. The drive isn't showing up in any BIOS (laptop or two desktops via usb) if that's any help. 5/31/2009 6:59:32 PM |

software is not working
i'm thinking of trying to grab a controller board from a drive with the same model # (is that enough to match?)
anyone had any luck with this...or heard of anyone who has 6/14/2009 11:28:36 AM |

+1 for GetDataBack NTFS
if that's not working for you, though, i don't know what else to suggest...i've used a combination of 3 utilities to recover information, but the vast majority of the time GetDataBack NTFS does the job (the other 2 worked in strange circumstances, but i can't remember what they are) 6/14/2009 1:56:52 PM |

holy crap, it actually worked
drive was totally non-responsive before...it would spin up, but never register in any way shape or form on a pc. found a drive with the same model #, swapped the boards and boom it works.9/13/2009 9:22:47 PM |
