CURRENT PROJECTS:
1992 Civic CeXy Hatch

STATUS:
- daily driveable, ~120whp 40mpg highway

PLANS:
forged rods
suzuki pistons
rebuilt head ( shaved the honda maximum. actually i went even further)
arp studs
30$ longblock overbored
new rings
14B/16G DSM turbo
450CC injectors
took apart transmission replaced some noise makers
soldered in 4 wire o2 support
soldered in vtec support
chipped and running free chrome (not so bad for free I've found)
estimate the curb weight to be 1900-2000lbs.

GOAL :
run a high 12 on street tires, high 11 on slicks. Trap somewhere in the 11X range.

ESTIMATED COST TO COMPLETION:
~$200

ESTIMATED DATE OF COMPLETION:
-2 weeks

TOTAL COST :
Under 2200$ (including turbo). Not bad considering I completely removed a stock power plant and placed this POS in its place. The entire stock 70hp setup is in the corner of my garage.

I'll be happy when its over to be honest. I thought cars and more specifically engine building/tuning would be a more rewarding experience. It takes very little knowledge and ends up being pretty boring. Probably would have been more productive to invest in a K series. I figure if I go all motor I'll do a spare s2000 block stroked to 2.6/2.7L and attempt to get somewhere around 275-280WHP with that. Who am I kidding. I'll never do this shit again!

[Edited on June 1, 2009 at 6:27 PM. Reason : oh goal hp is 275whp. 230whp if i use the 14B ive been using for fabrication]

CURRENT PROJECTS:
240sx 20psi on 93 octane, going no higher

STATUS:
- daily driveable (racing limited to lack of oil temp awareness ), ~400-430whp, 22mpg avg.

PLANS:
*steel-braided oil return line (probably $60+ in parts I don't feel like spending right now)
*oil cooler and temp setup
*torsen LSD
*clean up the engine bay, definitely needs a wire tuck but I'm not super anal about it
*redo rear quarter panel body work so I can flare the fender a bit more (can't flare bondo)

WISHFUL THINKING:
*all new bushings
*whole car repaint
*new seats and carpet
*windshield (only has tiny bubbles all over it, but no cracks)
*body kit (yup)
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/shoryuuu/DSC01119.jpg
*EGT setup
*turbo jacket

ESTIMATED COST TO COMPLETION:
over $15k? I've thrown parts at it for the past 7 years (and one big sum a few years ago) so I wouldn't be surprised if I'm around $10k right now.

ESTIMATED DATE OF COMPLETION:
No idea.

good news, it was p/s fluid, i finished most of the wiring and she's back to leaking in the parking lot and not the side of the road. surprised it still leaks, weeks after p/s quit working shes still got some fluid left.

bad news, wiring and a fuel filter didn't fix the damn misfire/stumble

is there a way to test a coil other than looking at the spark cause that shit is far from precise

CURRENT PROJECTS:
1983 Jetta 2-door
http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=540083

STATUS:
it runs and drive. needs exhaust.

PLANS:
short term:
Get it running and drivable (street legal)
- exhaust
- the clutch cable bracket needs to be fixed/changed

long term:
- rebuild 2.0 16v block with forged internals and low CR pistons (already have a head with mild port work) with turbo setup (300-400whp)
- limited slip diff
- full body resto.. at some point i will strip it down to the bare shell (everything.. no glass, no engine, no suspension, etc), put it on a rotisserie, fix the body (a couple dents and some minor rust) and build out from there. once i reach this stage everything that goes on the car will be cleaned/painted/etc. still undecided on many things like paint color and interior. its going to be a while before i reach this stage.

ESTIMATED COST TO COMPLETION:
short term:
a few hundred dollars, if that

long term:
who knows... i dont even want to think about it...

ESTIMATED DATE OF COMPLETION:
short term: very soon

long term: i doubt i will ever consider it "finished". the goal is for it to be a learning experience in many different areas

1975 Yamaha XS650

Status: Finished....hahaha no this thing breaks weekly. But it's in a ride-able form and I don't plan on tearing it apart any time soon. Rebuilt it from the ground up since february. It has a surprising amount of fabrication time in it for a bike that looks stock-ish...I made the tank mount, seat mount, upholstered the seat, rear fender, kick stand, rebuilt all the electronics(er, switches) and then all the crap that usually wears out on an old bike. Rattle-canned everything except the tank, which I went all out on with Rustoleum Satin. Only wiped out once(it weighs more than you'd think).

Cost: $1300, $300 over budget. Parts are cheap enough and easy to find, it's just that I didn't plan on having to fix EVERY SYSTEM ON THE BIKE.

I also have another dune buggy chassis close to complete. Waiting on parts and free time.

Come to think of it I have a pretty decent record of finishing my projects, albeit on a looooong time scale.
