A cartoon from the same guy who made King of the Hill. It's about a family who tries valiantly to be eco friendly. I thought the premise was lame but the first 3 shows have been pretty good. kind of like King of the Hill - the show makes fun of the characters, but they're all so nice I can't help but like them. Anybody else seen it?

a new show in summer though I don't think it'll last long

Good stuff.

Only a couple episodes in and its already one of the five funniest shows on television.

That's more a commentary on how few quality comedies are out there than how good The Goode Family is, but yeah, I dig this program and intend to continue watching.

Mike Judge is an equal opportunity offender. He doesn't buy into the bullshit rhetoric of either side (King of the Hill a satire of Conservative America, Goode Family a satire of Liberal America)

^^ I like that neither show is mean-spirited. Sure Hank loves football and trucks but his character is well rounded, not just a redneck stereotype. And the Goodes aren't a bunch of liberal elites. Gerald (the dad) says he works in "academia," but he's an administrator at a community college.

you can relate to the Hills even if you live in Vermont, and I think people will like the Goodes too

There are only two sitcoms in the history of television that don't constantly berate and demean Southerners just for being Southern. They are the Andy Griffith Show and King of the Hill.

It's not as bad as the commercials look, but it's not that great either. It looks like this is what to expect from Mike Judge these days, sadly. Both the concept for this show and Idiocracy are pretty good, but the execution lets it down. If the characters were more your liberal next door (like King of the Hill your conservative next door neighbor), the show might have more legs.

That said, it's too bad it's already on rocky footing, being moved from Wednesday to Friday night after 3 episodes. King of the Hill didn't hit its stride until late in the first season. Too bad Fox didn't pick this up to replace King of the Hill instead of adding another half-hour of Seth MacFarlane on Sunday nights.
