Any idea about the severance package?

That's bullshit.

Quote :
"To the Students, Faculty and Friends of NC State University:

In a few moments, we will be announcing that James Oblinger has chosen
to resign as chancellor of NC State. I wanted you to be the first to
hear this disappointing news.

Chancellor Oblinger cares deeply for NC State. He has devoted 23 years
to our university and his leadership will be greatly missed.

One of things I admire most about Jim Oblinger is that he has always put
the university's interests ahead of his own. He is resigning because he
does not want the ongoing controversy surrounding the university's
hiring and employment of Mary Easley to continue detracting from the
important work of our faculty and staff. He wants the university to move
forward, and that is what we must do.

A copy of the official announcement of the chancellor's resignation,
along with a copy of documents that NC State submitted to the U.S.
Attorney's office today, can be found on the university's Web site at
9:30 this morning at http://www.ncsu.edu.

I will continue to keep you informed about these developments and our
search for a new chancellor in the coming weeks. If you have questions
or comments, you can send them to me at: web_feedback@ncsu.edu.

Bob Jordan, Chair of the NC State Board of Trustees

I actually liked him. He was a good guy, is a good guy. He just got caught up in this Easley crap and now its going so far its ridiculous. I dont doubt that it comes out he had nothing to do with the hiring...it was him simply trying to help the provost that screwed him up.

good guy, he really is.

Wish they'd get rid of Stafford though or he would resign.

Helping the provost? The provost got to keep his old job without Oblinger's help. Oblinger was trying to get him an extra 300k.

I hope you're intelligent enough to realize that the university and their lawyers have decided to make available the documents that were submitted to the US Attorney's office.

----

As for Oblinger, he was Monteith 2.0

There's a reason he was known as "status quOblinger".

Stafford has been at the forefront of crushing every tradition or good thing surrounding NCSU athletics.

He made sure that campout was neutered forever after the bonfire and Thompson bathroom destruction debacle. He's been instrumental in reducing tailgating time to nothing. I'm sure he was active in all the noise ordinance legislation.

I don't know that the guy has ever been on the side of the students...ever?

don't forget about the whole sullivan hall noose in bathroom drama. Oblinger acted like they were gonna come down hard on it. Ended up wasting so many resources, time, and money, and the culprit was never caught.

this is fucking stupid. We're not actually freeing up anything, we're continuing to pay those 3 people ~$1,000,000 for at least the next six months for doing nothing. If that was meant to be sarcastic, then disregard my comment.

Was there really any time and resources wasted? I just assumed that they felt like they had to publicly take a stand against it, but anyone with a rational mind understood that it really was not a big deal at all.

News14Carolina just showed e-mails back and forth between Mike Easley, Oblinger, Nielsen, and the BOT guy, and Oblinger was a clear and obvious player in the hiring.
