Quote :
"Comedy Central has ordered all brand new episodes of Futurama, and the show has officially gone back into production.

An insider told Collider.com that the network has given the series an order for 13 additional episodes to air now that the network has run through all of the series' original episodes and the four full-length DVD movies. This news has sparked rumors that production has officially started again on the series and casting is underway."

I hated the movies but loved the show, so I guess we'll see.

I think Futurama is more suited for a 22 minute episode as opposed to a 90 minute movie.

I don't think fans have anything to worry about.

So will it become uncool to watch it once it comes back like Family Guy did?

Futurama could do no wrong for me... then they made the movies.

This is excellent news. I liked the movies, but I do agree that 22 minutes is a better fit.

The worst Futurama episodes/movies ever are infinitely better than any episode of Family Guy, American Dad, and (I'm guessing) the Cleveland Show.

Same goes for any Simpsons episode (being better than that McFarlane crap).
Also, I'm still pissed about losing King of the Hill.

If they took the best of the movies and fit them into 2 episodes each, they would be fine.

I'm looking forward to this.

I liked the movies except for the 2nd one. The problem with them were they were written as 4 separate episodes that were connected instead of a whole film. It's the same reason the Family Guy DVD movie kind of sucked.

Really happy this is back. Fox really dropped the ball with this and FG (and Arrested Development and Firefly, etc etc etc)

And just when I was thinking of selling off my sets in order to pick up the complete collection in "Bender-head" packaging:

I hate complete collections that arent actually complete.

I only bothered with the first two, but from what I saw breaking them up into eight 22 minute episodes wouldn't have helped.

From what I saw, the second one didn't even attempt to make jokes. They just gave the Futurama characters screen time and hoped that would be enough to entertain.

"As excited as I was about the return of Futurama, FOX has once again ruined that experience by their callous actions. According to no less than cast members John DiMaggio, Phil LaMarr, and Maurice LaMarche on their Facebook pages, a casting notice has gone out to replace actors DiMaggio, LaMarche, Billy West and Katy Sagal."

This is absolutely fucking ridiculous. I hope this is just some bogus rumor or a negotiating tactic.

from comments on one site about ^. the theory is:

Quote :
"I'm betting that this this a deliberate stunt to rally fans before ComiCon. Don't forget that the original actors are appearing there and there is a billed confrontation with Fox:

"Join executive producers Matt Groening and David X. Cohen, and stars Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, and Maurice LaMarche for high-stakes thrills as a top-ranking FOX executive decides live, on stage, whether Futurama will make yet another triumphant return or whether it is gone forever! The very fate of Futurama hangs in the balance!"

Fox simply would not be so stupid as to slap fans in the face this way. Why would the actors go to ComiCon if they had been fired?

Don't worry, guys, this is a deliberate hoax!"

i could see this being the case.

20th Century Fox Television is still the production company for the show, regardless of what channel the episodes air on.

And yeah, after reading ^^^, I bet its a hoax too...I mean, I seriously doubt they were getting paid THAT much in the first place...not enough to justify hiring new actors and losing a fair chunk of the core fanbase.

Complete series (so far, minus the movies) for $42.99...fantastic price.

Also lightning deal at 3:00PM described as "More Bender, More Fry"...probably the movies?

Was curious about what happened at comic-con. From Wikipedia:

Quote :
"On July 25, 2009 many fans were dis-heartened to see that the cast was not at the Futurama Comic-Con booth. According to Phil LaMarr (who voiced Hermes on the show), the cast's invitation was retracted by FOX because of the ongoing dispute over the salaries. There has yet to be any confirmation that the original cast won't return."

i loved the joke FG made when they returned about Fox canceling them...I hope Futurama does something similar.

My idea: the entire crew of planet express gets frozen by a fox executive and let out 7 years later and are welcomed by jon stewart's head.
