Online Dynasty will be back for its second year. Hopefully some of the issues can be worked out with it.

Big addition this year is create-a-school is back as "teambuilder". Now you can create a school online http://teambuilder.easports.com (available now) then import it into the game. Everything is editable, including rosters and player stats. I haven't been able to find info on if created schools can be used in online dynasty.

Release date is July 14th.

We will of course be starting another season of the TWW online dynasty once it releases.

if anybody hasn't heard the news yet.......the rosters are absolutely AWFUL this year. The ppl at EA are trying to do a quick fix but I took a look at them and they are terrible. Beck and Burke are still on states roster. Andre Brown and around 10 other graduates still here too. Nate Irving rated a 77 . Supposedly they are having trouble fixing them b/c 50,000 ppl have already made some teams on Team Builder and they would have to scratch all of that to do it.

i agree but one thing that sucks is online play......cuz they will always be stuck like that.

http://www.easportsworld.com/en_US/ncaafootball/create_a_school

If you just create a quick account, click create a team and then load state's rosters to that team then you can view them. Hopefully they can have these fixed.

oh and coach mode is back this year so no excused for Jaybee and his meat patty hands

Quote :
"It looks like NCAA Football 10 will be getting into the microtransaction game. This morning, while rummaging around the game's dynasty mode menus, I came across an option to "Add a Pipeline State" while setting up my Auburn dynasty. Clicking on that option took me to an XBL menu where, for 150 MS points (or roughly $1.87), I could add a maximum of one more pipeline state (of my choosing) to my recruitment map.

Here's the description for the "Pipeline State Addition" as it appears in the game:

"Pipeline States can help you recruit in an area while playing Dynasty Mode. After purchase you will be able to select a Pipeline State anywhere in the nation to give you another state to help you sign the top recruits. This will affect every team you control in Dynasty Mode and Online Dynasty Mode."

In addition to choosing to buy the "Pipeline State Addition" boost individually, the game menu also gives you the choice to purchase "all dynasty accelerators". Choose this option and you're taken to another XBL menu where, for 1000 MS points ($12.50), you can purchase all of the dynasty mode boosts in the game. Here's the description as it appears in the XBL menu:

"Unlocks all of the Dynasty Accelerators: Recruiting Advisor, Coaching Seminar, Toughest Places to Play Boost, School Pitches Improvements, Maximum Player Training, Pipeline State Addition, and Recruiting Reports. These will affect every team you control in Dynasty Mode and Online Dynasty Mode."

I'm a bit unclear on what some of these boosts do for you, particularly Coaching Seminar and Toughest Places to Play Boost but the effects of tools like the Recruiting Advisor, the Pipeline State Addition, and the Recruiting Reports are tangible. During a regular dynasty mode season, you'll have both Recruiting Advisor and Recruit Report menu options available to you in the main Recruiting menu. Clicking on either the Advisor or the Report option will give you the option to purchase it individually.

The Recruit Advisor will help you identify talented players who are interested in being recruited by your school. The advisor can also help more quickly unlock effective pitches for a handful of recruits each week. Here's the game's description for the Recruiting Advisor:

"While playing in Dynasty Mode (Offline or Online) your Recruiting Advisor will bring you one of the following four items every week: Information on Recruits that you can add to your Recruiting Board that you may not have known they were interested. Hints on the top Pitches for some of the Recruits on your Recruiting Board. Hints on which Prospects on your Recruiting Board are willing to listen to your pitches more than other weeks. Inside information on which Recruits will sign to your school instantly. This will affect every team you control in Dynasty Mode and Online Dynasty Mode."

Recruit Reports is a tool that lists all of the players you've recruited during the season, their position, caliber, as well as the time you've spent recruiting them via telephone. By clicking the right stick on a player, you can bring up more information on him, including his top 10 school choices, his interest level in each of the competing schools, whether or not he has received scholarship offers from other schools, and any campus visits he has planned during the season. As with the Recruiting Advisor, the option appears on the main Recruiting menu and you can purchase it individually by clicking on it. Here's the game's description of Recruiting Reports:

"It can take a lot of time and effort to see where your rivals are spending their Recruiting Time every week in Dynasty Mode. The Recruiting Reports will bring the information from the previous week. Knowing which recruits your opponent is targeting and how much time they are spending with each recruit can help you make informed decisions while spending your Recruiting Time. This will affect every team you control in Dynasty Mode and Online Dynasty Mode."

I'm awaiting clarification on what the remaining dynasty mode boosts do for you in NCAA 10, as well as if the prices listed above are final. Stay tuned."

Speaking of commish, we need to start accepting applications for this year's position

As well as deciding if we want to do the ACC again or another conference, or random teams as you can make custom conferences this year

Game comes out in a month, so we have time, but lets try to get everything decided on so we can get started shortly after the game comes out

I'm in as a player not as commish.

Personally I feel we should do a custom conference out of only the SEC (no Florida) and ACC. That way nobody will get stuck with Duke. Plus, everyone will be competing for similar recruits.

Only a month left. Might have to break out the 360(probably a little rusty, haven't played in about 6 months lol) and sign up for xbox live again when this comes out. The new band animations look pretty cool. And Erin Andrews is in this year.

I'd be down with an ACC-SEC conference.

They really need to do more work on the A.I...Especially like run/pass preference for QBs. At like 0:57 in that clip...good thing the real Russel would tuck that shit haha.

*edit* and we KNOW Russel would never throw that int in the red zone...come on EA...

The game looks good though, the stadium looks good and it looks like they might have the cave in...hard to tell though. Anyone know if they did anything about team entrances this year? Supposedly that was something they wanted to work on for the '10 release.

The band, team entrances, intros, etc.. are just another thing I skip thru after the 3rd or 4th time

Make the core gameplay better...they seem to have really focused on Madden this year and not as much on NCAA

But I liked last years game...as long as it plays as good or better, all is wel

and ACC/SEC would be cool...Miami, FSU, VT, Clemson, NC State and GT vs Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, South Carolina and Georgia...I kind of agree that Florida would be too godly

i wish they'd add custom signs back in like they had in 03 or whenever

seeing random fans hold up signs that said "LEE CORSO IS A FAGGOT" and "KOBE IS INNOCENT, I RAPED HER" made in-between-plays part of the game much much better

I don't know, I think they have the gameplay pretty refined. I'd like to see how the gang tackles work out in Madden before adding it into NCAA. But supposedly players run realistic 40 times this year...you'd think that would have gotten in awhile ago...but other than AI, last years game was pretty solid to me. Or at least on the right track.

I love EA sports. They can add season showdown and team builder but their new roster guy who was supposed to be "the shit" completely borks the roster. And Sam Keller(former Nebraska qb) is trying to sue them for portraying the likeness of college athletes. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4151071 Wonder what kinda of problems will show up when everyone starts playing the game.

I like the idea of doing two conferences as well. It might help speed up the dynasty too with everyone not having to wait on someone else every week. SEC/ACC would be great, I would think. Still battling for recruits, but having somewhere near 5-7 games against users each year. Good balance between CPU/user games.

Maybe we'd require six teams from each conference? And three from each side?

I believe the idea was to create a custom conference(since you're able to do that this year) with a mix of ACC and SEC teams instead of spreading out across 2 conferences

Hopefully we can make 1 conference and pick 6 ACC and 6 SEC teams and have them each be one division

So we play 8 conference games and 4 CPU games

and NO D-1AA teams allowed...you have to replace them with bottom tier FBS teams

Even on Heisman you can still rape the 1-AA teams 84 nothing, and its no fun just running the clock out the whole second half to keep the score realistic

Quote :
" A feature we get asked for by some of the more simulation (SIM) oriented crowd is the ability to just call plays and let the CPU make the moves on the field (basically “Coach Mode”). Just calling plays hasn’t worked in years past because the Quarterback would never throw the ball so you would be stuck making at least one decision on the field.

A new option in the Game Controls Settings called Auto Pass aims to solve the problem. Very simply put when it is turned on your QB will be under CPU control if you just snap the ball and don’t move the analog stick. Note: This option is OFF by Default, so make sure you visit the Game Controls – Passing screen and turn it ON when you pick up the game."

So are the next gen NCAA football games finally equal (feature wise) to the last release of NCAA for the previous gen? Or are they going to go the route of purposely leaving off features they used to offer and then charge you to 'unlock' them?

I remember the first NCAA title for the X-Box 360 lacking many, many features that were present in the contemporary NCAA title to come out for the X-Box... '07?

Just asking, because if I ever get a 360 it will be because I need that NCAA Football fix.

Season Showdown: Sportsmanship
by BenHaumiller 06/04/09 5:06 PM

Season Showdown: Sportsmanship

So far we have covered the Skills and Strategy elements of Season Showdown. This week wee will focus on the third major component, Sportsmanship. Before I go into the details for what's considered good and/or poor sportsmanship I'd like to go into why we chose sportsmanship as a component for Season Showdown.

For the most part, the last remaining barrier preventing people from enjoying online games vs. someone they don't already know is the quality of play by your opponent. Everyone has been matched up in a game where the fun is completely lost because your opponent has never seen a 4th down they won't go for, and the only chance their kicker has of seeing the field is on a kickoff. Even worse, you sometimes find yourself baited by this behavior and the next thing you know your rationalizing your poor play as "well they did it first, I'm justified", or "everyone random online person is a cheeser, so I'm gonna cheese them before they have a chance to cheese me". It's a vicious cycle.

One thing we learned last year with Online Dynasty was the multi-game restart warning proved to be a very good cheat preventer. The simple act of calling someone out for restarting their game was often enough to prevent someone from quitting a game vs. the CPU if their star player went down with an injury. We applied that same concept when coming up with Sportsmanship. Let's call people out when they are acting like jerks, and reward them when they do the right thing. Now when you choose to go for that onside kick when you are up by 28 just to annoy your opponent, not only will it hurt your school, but it will also tarnish your image in the eyes of the online community as the more you do these things the more of a "bad sport" you will be considered.

Sportsmanship is the only category that you can gain and lose credits during a game. If you earned 400 credits in all of the other categories, but finished with -200 in Sportsmanship, you are going home with 200 credits for that game. Before you start to think that I've just shown you the way to tank a school just by signing up for them and losing as many credits as possible, we cap the number of credits lost at zero for the school, so you can never remove credits from a school. You will, however, go into the negative for your own personal sportsmanship rating. And then everyone will know what type of player you really are.

Before heading into a game with someone make sure to check out their Season Showdown ID card, here you will be able to see the school they are representing, how many total credits they have earned, and their Skills, Strategy, and Sportsmanship levels. These levels will let you get a good indication as to what type of player your opponent is, and what type of experience you can be prepared for if you play them.

Alright, enough about why Sportsmanship is in, now let's talk about how you can display good and bad Sportsmanship. First I'll start with the positives:

Punting on 4th down
I know, this is a foreign concept to some, but it is true, punting is a part of football. This is the single biggest gripe among gamers, you hold your opponent to a 4th down, and they go for it, regardless of distance, score, location on the field, etc. So this one is pretty simple, if it's a situation where you should punt it, do so.

QB Kneel
Pop quiz, outside of a Punt, what's the least used play during an online game in NCAA Football 09? If you said QB Kneel I'd venture to say you are correct. Even with a 1-point lead I've seen countless number of people risk a turnover to keep running the ball, or worse, passing the ball, when all they need to do is knee out the clock. Do this and you will get some easy Sportsmanship credits.

Chewing the Clock
One of the new additions this year is the ability to "chew the clock". This feature allows you to speed up the game and play clock to 12 seconds left on the play clock. This means when you are trying to preserve a win, instead of just sitting in the play call screen waiting for the time to tick down, you can call your play and have the time tick off automatically. Since the point of doing this is to run out the clock, you will need to wait until there are 5 seconds or less on the play clock before snapping the ball if you want credit. Also, if you are on the losing end of a contest and just want to get it over with you can turn on Chew Clock to help speed up the end of the game, you will get credits for doing this too. Remember, Chew Clock only works when the game clock is running, so if you turn it on before the start of a drive, it won't work on 1st down since the clock is stopped.

Concede Defeat
This one couldn't be simpler. If you just want to end the game cause you are getting waxed, waive the white flag and concede defeat, you will get credits just for doing that. If your opponent accepts they too will get some credits for being a good sport.

Now let's talk about the negatives. One thing to remember is that these are all situational based, so just because you can lose credits for going for it on 4th down doesn't mean that every situation would be considered poor sportsmanship. If you are losing in the 4th quarter, go for it as much as you want.

Going for it on 4th down
I guarantee that if you are reading this, you would score at least a 9/10 on a quiz called "Should I go for it on this 4th down". So you know what you should do any given situation. For the borderline cases, we will only hit you with a warning that lets you know when you are cutting it close.

Unnecessary 2-point conversions
Every coach has that little card that tells them when they should go for 1 or 2 based on the score. If you are up by 5, what's one point going to get you? You want to go for 2 to get your lead to 7. If you are up by 34, does going up by 36 really put you in a better position to win? No? Then kick the extra point.

Onside Kicking
Simple, if you have the lead, kick it off.

Calling a timeout just to get one more play
As the game is winding down and your win is secure, if you call a time out on defense just to try and get the ball back to pad some stats, or if you are already on offense and call a timeout with 2 seconds left just for one more stab at the end zone get ready to lose some credits.

Continuing to Pass late in the 4th quarter with a comfortable lead
This one is not an affront on the Texas Tech's of the world, but if you are passing on 1st or 2nd down in the 4th quarter with a 3 score lead, then you are going to lose some credits. Even Mike Leach would be fine with you running the clock out here.

Well there you have it. That's what Sportsmanship is all about. One last note, the situations and scores are all tunable after the game launches. So if we missed a situation, or need to make an adjustment to the scoring we will be able to do that automatically and not through a patch, which will allow for very quick turnaround if an issue comes up. And if one does, I have no doubt you will let me know."

yeah the "coach mode" will most likely be like it was in the past on gamecube and ps2 where if you just snap the ball and don't do anything, the cpu will automatically throw it. Never really got the point in paying $60 for a game and letting the cpu do something for you. oh well, whatever floats your boat. Would get rid of the cheesers though.

Reading the threads on Operation Sports have kinda put me on the fence on whether I want to pre-order or wait til it's been out a couple weeks. Game Stop is running a special until the 21st where you get an extra 20% on trade in if you put it toward reserving NCAA 10.

It's a video game, though. I mean the point is to play it, no?

Don't get me wrong I appreciate the more realistic games (MLB: The Show is awesome because the management is so realistic) but I would never buy any of these games unless I actually got to control he action too...

I tried the original Head Coach game and it would just be frustrating. You'd call a pass play, they'd fall for the play-action and you'd have a guy wide open and the QB would throw it into traffic just to have it picked off. Or I'll call a running play and the middle will be stuffed and if I was controlling the back I'd bounce it to the outside and they just run into the brick wall. If they fixed all of that, then maybe I'd be more willing to try that mode out, but for now I'll stick with controlling the players so I only have me to blame...or the cheating AI. Haha.
