WAKE UP PEOPLE.

Mo's back. Ronny's back. Everybody's back.

3 years.

In addition to Associate Head Coach Ronny has been named Director of Player Personnel.

In addition to goaltending coach, Barrasso now has an Assistant Coach title as well, which is not surprising because he was playing a much bigger role than goalie coach this year.

Excellent, I am very curious to see what the canes do.

Vulcan, since you are the master of hockey updates, can you help me keep an eye on Hossa too?

Kevin McCarthy will continue to get paid by the Canes for contributing precisely dick to the operation.

and LOL @ Panthers fans thinking they're going to get a 1st rounder (AND a top player?!!?? MORE LOL) for the CHANCE to sign Bouwmeester.

The Red Wings are going to offer Hossa one of their trademark absurdly long deals. Probably around 10 years with a cap hit of like $5 million. They will backload or frontload it so they can get the modest cap hit like they did with Zetterberg and Franzen. Hossa will be able to get more money if he goes elsewhere, but if he wants stability he will take less to stay in Detroit.

I gotta say, I think the Wings are playing with fire if they make another one of these deals. They may very well have the best management and scouting team in all of pro sports, but if one or two of these players go bust, they will really be handcuffing themselves for the future.

EDIT: I just realized I posted the Canes shit in the wrong thread

^^this is strictly opinion right???

cause i think detroit should up him, or i mean TRY to get him for 2-3 years TOPS, and he will have to take a major pay cut to stay in detroit

he's not THAT vital to the team and was not worth his 7.45 mil, but i love the guy and would love to see him stay and contend again

you are spot on with the franzen and zetterberg deals... datsyuk is upped for 7 more years too i think

That is pure speculation, yes. That's the only way Detroit can keep him I think, unless they do another 1 year deal, which he doesn't seem to be interested in.

Phoenix relocation thoughts anyone?

Supposedly some news will come out today regarding the potential sale. This shit is dragging on too long, Balsillie is running out of time to get the team moved immediately to Hamilton. From all the indications I'm seeing, this shit is going to eventually happen. Balsillie will pony up the cash to move this team, possibly not in time for next season though. I predict the Hamilton Tigers will be playing in 2010-11. Get ready for the 2nd coming of "Green Acres" of empty seats in Phoenix this coming season. Too much shit to get around with certain appeals from the NHL if Balsillie wins this case, free agency right around the corner, not to mention conference/division realignment before the schedule (which is certainly basically done if not completely done at this point) is released.

In other news, get rid of the trapezoid before next season.

Some baseball-like 16/14 shit is possible, otherwise I don't know who the hell in the East would move West. Atlanta is the most likely candidate by being the westernmost Eastern Conference team, but come the fuck on. Even a move like that would cause a 6/5/4 split in the divisions in the East unless someone is moved to the southeast. I don't see Philly or Pittsburgh playing in the southeast.

Lets bring more teams to the East...as if the league wasn't east-centric enough already

Look where the goddamn conference dividing line is at for Christ's sake

COPY PASTE COPY PASTE some random shit

Quote :
"14 major NHL hockey players are suing a developer named Kenneth Jowdy for allegedly screwing them out of millions of dollars -- and then blowing the cash on escorts, strippers and private jet rides for some of the biggest names in Major League Baseball history.

The list of NHL players includes some of the sport's most famous guys -- Michael Peca, Sergei Gonchar, Chris Simon, Greg deVries, Jason Woolley, Mattias Norstrom, Vladimir Tsyplakov, Jay McKee, Raymond Murray, Glen Murray, Bryan Berard, Dimitri Khristich, Jozef Stumpel and Darryl Sydor.

The players claim they each invested between $250,000 - $500,000 with Jowdy -- who allegedly promised to use their money to develop a luxury golf course and resort.

Instead, the suit alleges the money was blown on private jets, 5-star hotels, and parties with various female porn stars, escorts, strippers, party girls and other women for MLB greats like "Roger Clemens, Reggie Jackson, Joe Morgan and Pete Rose (to name a few)."

The NHL players are suing for at least $15 million.

UPDATE: Joe Morgan just sent us this statement: "It's unethical to use my name when I never went to any of those parties, nor was I involved in any other activities."

I went to the Opening Night game in Phoenix when they played Columbus. First thing you notice when you come up on Jobing.com Arena was what was surrounding it. It was like an oasis in the middle of Glendale with the arena and the U of Phoenix Stadium. If anyone's been to the CityWalk around Universal Studios, it reminded me of that with the restaurants, clubs, movie theatres, etc.

The outside makes up for the inside. Very bland concourse and very tight, too. Only about 12 feet across it felt like, and I could easily reach up and touch the ceiling. The seating itself was pretty intimate. Didn't feel very cavernous like the RBC Center does at times, and you were pretty close to the ice. Their cheerleaders caught my eye. Wore their little skits and helped clean the ice during breaks. Found it cool they were named "The Pack."

The fans were the tamest I've ever seen. The 3 Columbus fans in front of me were making more noise than the rest of the arena, and the Coyotes were winning. Only a handful seemed really knowledgable of the game, but I was still pretty impressed by the amount of people that actually showed up for such a down franchise. I never saw anyone wearing a Coyotes shirt in the mall, never saw a car flag, never heard anything about them on the local news. Hockey and 115 degree temperatures just don't mix. It just doesn't belong in Phoenix.

can't really disagree with many of the awards given out

except maybe julien as coach of the year, not sure what was too remarkable about him as compared to others. . . yeah his team did great all year and failed in the playoffs, so i could understand maybe the "buffalo sabres award for being good until it counted" but as far as COY i don't really get it

Isles beat writer says he thinks they will take Duchene 1st overall.

In other news...

Quote :
"Phoenix has traded centre Steve Reinprecht to the Florida Panthers in exchange for Stefan Meyer.

The Coyotes have also signed forward Petr Prucha to a two-year deal.

Reinprecht, meanwhile, has signed a three-year deal with the Panthers.

Reinprecht's three-year deal has a cap hit of $2.050 million. He will get $1.8 million in the first year and $2.175 million in each of the following two years."

The Islanders have requested that TSN have a camera at Nassau Coliseum tonight, where 15,000 people are expected to show up to watch the draft.

This means either the Isles are drafting Tavares, or they want a riot to be captured on tape.

I'm expecting a trade. I wonder what it would take for the Isles to get the #2 or 3 overall as well? They currently hold the #26, 31, 37, 56, 62, 91, 92, 122, 152, and 182 picks in addition to the #1 overall.
