So i've been parked at RDU for ~22 days, at 10 bucks a day thats gonna be a pretty hefty fee when I come home Thursday.
Anyone know what the lost ticket fee there refer to on their website is? My thinking is maybe its some set fee of like 100 or something, so I could "lose" my ticket and actually get a better deal. Also, I have no idea if they would try to verify itinerary, etc...b/c that could be a failure waiting to happen...
Anyone who's done this or know how the lost ticket stuff works...lemme know 6/17/2009 12:34:51 AM |

they record your license plate number at Charlotte, they probably do it at RDU as well 6/17/2009 4:58:12 AM |

yeah that's what you should do... since you were too lazy to determine what to do with your car before leaving it in a $10 a day lot for 22 days you should cheat the system.
do you really think that you are the first person to think this is a genius idea?
And I'm sure with the way security is at airports now, they have already noticed that your car has been there for over 3 weeks.
pay what you owe and next time take a taxi or ride... 6/17/2009 5:57:14 AM |

The lost ticket fee might be a fee they charge to look up your plate in their system (if they record it like they apparently do in Charlotte). Then you'd just end up paying:
$220 for the 22 days + $100 lost ticket fee 6/17/2009 7:08:28 AM |

hahaha that would be an uber pwnt.
I guess you could pull up to the kiosk, tell them you lost the ticket, see what they say. If they try to do ^, make the ticket magically appear from somewhere.
For at least $120, you may want to think about crying a little too 6/17/2009 7:36:31 AM |

a capital idea.
also, the only times you should ever park at RDU are a) if the cost of parking is less than taking a taxi, or b) your company is paying for the parking/airfare.6/17/2009 9:54:48 AM |

RDU records every license plate for every car every day. They know when you parked at RDU, and where your car is located.
If you do the lost ticket thing, they will probably go back in their book and look at the inventory.
This was the case 2 years ago, anyway... 6/17/2009 10:18:57 AM |

wait for another car to pull up to the little arm bar thing where the ticket comes out
when the car comes up, pull out their ticket telling them it didnt give you yours.
take ticket to counter
pay whatever small amount it is
save money

Have a friend come to the airport and get a ticket. use their ticket to get your car out, have them get fined for losing their ticket and pay them back 6/17/2009 1:02:10 PM |

CarZin is correct. Lost mine once, they have it all in their system. Turned out the attendant was my neighbor so he may have cut me a deal. It was kind of a pain waiting for him to go through everything though. 6/18/2009 9:46:45 PM |

i tried that once at another airport, but i think it has to detect a car to issue a ticket
i dont know about RDU though
but i guess you could drive a car up, get a ticket, and back out,
but thats gonna be real hard too in the one way traffic6/18/2009 10:20:29 PM |

they just need to back up enough to get a new ticket and go through the gate
you come back a few hrs later to grab your car so its not completely ridiculous
also if you got your car at like midnight or whenever the last flight gets in, the person manning the booth is going to be dead on arrival and not give a fuck

boy i hate when i use a service for convenience sake and they actually charge me the listed price!
i went to the grocery store for bread yesterday, but i ended up seeing more things i liked so i stuck them under my coat. i only went for bread after all, why pay for the rest?

they're aware of this scheme too. once I pulled up and couldn't reach the ticket so I had to move my car. when I left an hour later the guy had to get out of his booth and get my license plate info and run it in his computer. every time they have a "back out ticket" they run your plate to see how long you were there.6/21/2009 12:10:56 PM |
