Featuring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams (Love her!)

Trailer here:

http://movies.yahoo.com/summer-movies/the-time-travelers-wife/1809937231/trailers/216/1757

Based on the book by Audrey Niffenegger. I read the book a long time ago and loved it. I remember it being a tear jerker! I'll probably have to read it again before the movie comes out. The trailer makes it look really good though.

ehh, i'm really disappointed. I hope the movie is nothing like this preview. I really liked the book. And this is not how I personally imagined it. It seems like they made it far more sappy.

I can see them making the preview like this to draw people who get stuck on the title though. I had to work hard to convince female friends to read this book because of the title. It took some effort to get them to believe that it wasn't actually science fiction and that the time traveling was really just a device rather than the story itself. But once they read it, they really liked it. So, I can see it to some extent. But this is almost too much.

Unless a new trailer comes out that is very different or reviews suggest otherwise, I probably won't see this in the theater unless maybe on a date.

I don't think I like Rachel mcAdams as Clare. Eric Bana is OK. I hate that they're showing anything about their daughter in the previews. Whether or not they can or will have a child is a big issue in the book. And you don't know until a good ways into the story what will come of that. They might as well cut out, and probably did, the miscarriages and what not.

The act of time-traveling looked kinda silly... he slowly disappeared while falling backwards? I seem to recall it being very sudden in the book. Like he and Clare would be talking, she'd turn around, and there were just a pile of clothes on the floor. Perhaps even somewhat violent at time. I believe it causes him to throw up occasionally.

The preview didn't seem to show a hint of the danger of his time traveling. Aside, from him being in the cage. Which only the people who read the book would pick up as "dangerous."

Also, does anyone recall the main genre of music prevalent in the novel? I assure you, it was not the crap that's in the trailer. Is that Life House?

Hopefully they at least tell it in the right order. And I'm really hoping the entire movie isn't like this first trailer.

^Yeah, Like I said, I haven't read the book in years but I remember really loving it. It's my sisters favorite book and she got me to read it.

I do remember him becoming ill while traveling, especially needing to eat (and clothes obviously)

I do need to read the book again but now I'm not sure if I want to read it again before seeing the movie or seeing the movie first, so the book doesn't ruin it (because I know the book will be better) and then reading it again. Either way I'll probably wait til it comes out on dvd.

Shit looks sad. Will be probably be dragged to it by my lady friend who will be looking for a new "The Notebook." Rachel McAdams is hot as shit though. So this movie could be tolerable.

got dragged to this by my gf...it was actually pretty good. i would watch it again. Rachel McAdams should always play a character named Claire.

Saw this with the GF. Sad, but not bleak or depressing (almost uplifting). Pretty good story concept.

However it's very much a shallow fairy tale:
-All the characters are depth-less stereotypes clad in fashionable garb with perfect movie star hair
-I can understand suspending disbelief for the sake of convenience, but this film takes it to the extreme. The time travelling is treated way too casually
-All the plot points were predictable and uninspired.
-I didn't see a single black person in the movie
