1) message_section.aspx?section=132) Does this mean you're back in Raleigh? Or were you gonna leave out the part about being in a totally different market?
6/19/2009 9:48:56 AM

6/19/2009 9:50:03 AM
That, too.And she thinks people are jealous :carl:Actually, some might be.Ignorance is bliss, and she always makes a point to post about how happy she is.[Edited on June 19, 2009 at 9:51 AM. Reason : fd]
6/19/2009 9:50:28 AM
I'm jealous as hell. In fact I woke up this morning wondering how I could make myself a little more like Kiwi.
6/19/2009 9:51:08 AM
2005 Ford Focus and it's in Augusta, GA
6/19/2009 9:51:32 AM
I never got to wake up this morning
6/19/2009 9:51:40 AM
1. POST IN THE RIGHT SECTION2. NO ONE FUCKING CARES
6/19/2009 9:51:43 AM
today, we are all Kiwi.
6/19/2009 9:51:52 AM
Yeah, I quickly realized I had a job, a husband, a house, and a life...and decided against the whole Kiwi thing. But for just a second, I was jealous.]
6/19/2009 9:53:35 AM
this is something i can do on my own vehicles in less than 30 mins and the part is about $100so yeah, sounds about right for a shop
6/19/2009 9:55:50 AM
I figured as much. I just love getting raped anally by auto shops. At least we got a free tow out of it.
6/19/2009 9:57:00 AM
^ get a Haynes manual and get your husband or neighbor to do it. ^^ numbers are about correct. I had to replace the radiator fan motor on my Saturn last week. The shop quoted $81 for the part and $82 for the labor. Instead, I went to Advance Auto and got the part for $23 and replaced it myself in <30 minutes. You can save crazy money by learning how to use a ratchet set.
6/19/2009 10:00:04 AM
6/19/2009 10:02:23 AM
you unhook the battery, take the belt off, unplug the harness, and take out about 3 boltsdo that in reverse to put the new one on
6/19/2009 10:05:13 AM
Plus it's a fuckin Ford.
6/19/2009 10:09:46 AM

6/19/2009 10:18:00 AM
6/19/2009 10:18:27 AM
yeah man with the way the internet is now you could learn. and even if it took you 2 or 3 hours the first time youre still saving shit tons of loot.
6/19/2009 10:21:52 AM
We are, but he's out of town for work and has meetings 12 hours a day, he doesn't have the convenience to work on it himself. Plus, the company said they'd comp him. Still, that's a looooooot of money and if he were at home we'd have learned to fix it ourselves because I'd rather us not spend $400/hr on labor.
6/19/2009 10:23:30 AM
the first time i switched one out i was a complete noobhell, still amit took me about 2 hours but i did break my cheap ass socket wrench and had to go and buy a new set so i factored in that time it took to go out and back before the switch. i was shocked at how simple it was and this was on a older celica
6/19/2009 10:23:44 AM
IBTZXAPPEAL
6/19/2009 10:24:10 AM
sounds like you're already resigned to sending it to the shop. why are you even asking this question. you're going to pay it anyway.i've changed my alternator before and it was a pain in the ass. i'm sure some are easier than others, but it can't be that hard.
6/19/2009 10:25:24 AM
I think the "newer" ford engines are way compact. We can't even change the air filter because it's hidden under a bunch of shit. Though the manual says NOT to change it until 100,000 miles.Just getting opinions, it's already a done deal hence it being in chit chat. When he told me the price I died a little inside, haha.[Edited on June 19, 2009 at 10:26 AM. Reason : yo]
6/19/2009 10:25:42 AM

6/19/2009 10:26:32 AM

6/19/2009 10:26:48 AM

6/19/2009 10:51:38 AM
holy christ that's a lot. I replaced one in my old car for $99 and a little sweat.Go to LKQ in Garner, find your car, take an alternator from there, pay like $25 for it. Find some reasonably useful person and promise beer upon completion of alternator installation.profit.
6/19/2009 10:53:47 AM
If we were in Raleigh I definitely would, I appreciate the help there.
