I would have more than 3TB, but, unfortunately, hard drive manufacturers are still pulling that shit where 1kb to them is 1000kb and not 1024kb. So, my 3 1.5TB hard drives (4.5TB) become about 4TB. And after RAID 5 configuration, it's about 3TB.

btw i dont trust any external hdd brand except western digital....i have 5 (2 320gbs, 3 150gbs) and never had a problem....should i even try to buy some other brand or just get a WD 1tb and call it a day?

^^^^ $450 for the enclosure. Hard drives separate. There are some cheaper, crappier alternatives for about half that.

^, if you're gonna buy 1.5TB drives, get the Western Digital not the Seagate. Current Seagate drives of that size are having some issues.

Also, I wouldn't buy a single 1TB drive. If it crashes with no backup, that's a lot of shit to get lost. At least get two and RAID-1 them together reliability.
