I'm talking massive resolution that will play seizure inducing animations

Hit me up with your circuit designs

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the lilypad won't cut it....without shitloads of them.

hey, i'm a moron when it comes to circuits, but i don't see how you could control a couple hundred -> maybe a thousand or so LEDs with 14 I/O pins

2^14 = 16384

I would love to see you wire it .

Yea, I was looking at that yesterday. Probably will start with it just to learn a bit...

But it's purpose built for that....and the controller is still gigantic....that's why I'm confused as how you guys are saying you can build a huge multiplexed array with a lilypad

8 IO

2^8 = 256

if you cant figure this out you have no hope. do you know what a cathode and anode is?

Let's just talk about 3 bits. You tell me the connections that would allow you to address 8 different LEDs with 3 I/Os from a mcu.

why don't you just follow the cube schematic? a shift register designed for LED current levels.

A decoder isnt going to make for a very exciting shirt . You could make a chaser script though!

1 2 3 <- pin pixel v
0 0 0 0
1 0 0 1
0 1 0 2
1 1 0 3
0 0 1 4
1 0 1 5
0 1 1 6
1 1 1 7

8 distinct addresses from 3 pins

then you use ICs along the periphery of the display to switch individual LEDs onto your amplified intensity signal(s) given the parallel address of row and column

have you never taken an LCD apart

Yeah, no shit. When I made the statement, I was thinking of how you could do it without additional circuitry, but no one really implied that it couldn't be done - which is why I said I was being retarded. Looking at the Peggy 2, they get around any sort of I/O limitation as it is by using SPI enabled LED drivers on the rows and use MUXs on the columns.

No, but I did read through the links this time, just like you did.

Oh, and the original

Was meant with the idea that you wouldn't use one lillypad, you'd use a lot of them. Actually, I only glanced at the stuff on that sparkfun page. I know that they dabble in wearable stuff, but I don't really bother with looking at what it is because it doesn't interest me that much. Once the technology gets a little bit better where you can seamlessly embedd LEDs for cheap into clothing, then I might be interested.

Ok, I stopped being a retard just long enough to get it all thought out.

This is going to be relatively easy (minus the programming bit...still haven't worked with microcontrollers much).

Now all I have to do is buy a shitload of equipment
