who should i talk to about this?

there's a blind curve in my neighborhood that people park on both sides of

nothing like going down a one-lane road having no idea if you're going to run into a car!

also, who has the right of way in a situation like that and who's at fault given a wreck occurs?

You can do the same thing my neighbor did a while back. Bash all the street-facing side mirrors off the parked cars with a baseball bat.... they won't park there any longer.

Or just leave an anonymous note on every car "I think I sideswiped you but don't see any damage" and leave the phone number to the local police department as your home number. They might come out and tell people not to park there anymore.

Anything else is going to result in months of bureaucratic bullshit

I should kick my own ass for being oxymoronic, but this is an instance where an HOA is helpful.

If you hit those cars you'll be at fault even though the people who park there are utter idiots. I've been in a situation like this, trust me, the law is on their side. It sucks.

I think he means if he has a head-on collision with another car coming the opposite way. And I have no clue as to the answer... the most diplomatic way to handle it is to ask the car owners not to park there, again....

Go pull up some no parking signs from somewhere and put them on the side of the road. Also, paint a red stripe on the curb/gutter.


Call the city's transportation office, talk to an engineer or someone high up, and tell them that there is a curve that people park on that limits the sight distance around the curve. Mention stuff like super-elevation, AASHTO green book, SSD (safe stopping distance), no marked parking lane, etc. He'll get the idea. Also, send some photos.

If you're looking for some "No Parking" signs to steal, I highly recommend Reedy Creek Rd. Those assholes built million dollar homes there so they could have Umsted park as their back yard, then lobbied the state to effectively shut down that park entrance to the public.
