Sure you do when the public has already formed their opinion and a conviction would mean not only jail time, but losing your kids....I mean if anyone actually thought for 100% that MJ was a child molester and still allowed him to be a single father to 3 kids, that would be a serious crime. Given all the money hungry lazy motherfuckers in this world, does it really seem that off that that mother (who had already had some questionable settlements go her way) wouldn't try and cash in? Worst case for her is she loses the suit and gets nothing. Worst case for him is he loses in court, gets sentenced to jail time, loses his kids, loses every bit of money he has.....I mean it was probably much cheaper to pay out $20 mil than to spend that money on a trial, the appeal process, the money that would have to be spent to get back his kids......

I'm not saying MJ never did anything ever.....I wasn't there, but to think for one second that because he settled that means he's guilty is just wrong on so many levels

^Yeah, you can go that route, but there are people that truly believe that he could do no wrong. I'm sure if it ever came to a jury trial he'd never be convicted. You know how many times I've heard:

"He could never do something like that."

That's a blind stance to take. People love the guy so much they don't want to believe he could do something like that. Besides, that's the first thing you hear on every breaking news story for people that commit serious crimes. There's the obligatory interview with the neighbor "I never would have thought..." Since Jackson is a celebrity this sentiment is probably just multiplied. Then again, since he's a celebrity there's probably people out to get the guy just as much.

I digress. Out of 12 random people I can almost guarantee there will be one that wouldn't want to believe the charges, even if there was a video or something.

Plus the guy peaced out to a different country. Maybe to go to a place where it would be easier to continue with a sick addiction, maybe just to get away from the money grubbers you refer to.

my2cents is wrong.....again.....he didnt have kids when the first out of court settlement occurred.....he just didnt want to dirty details to come out and ruin his career (it did anyways)....how many comeback tour flops did he have? He had to tour overseas to make money....his career in the states basically tanked after the first out of court settlement.
