^ The brand of cigarettes and that it happened, no, I'm not surprised either. That (1) a guy ripped down spouts off the side of a building on Hillsborough Street in broad daylight and on camera to the tune of $6,000? Yes, that was a little surprising.

But (2) that a guy fit 26 cartons of cigs down his pants and walked out? Yes, that was more than a bit surprising--those must've been some baggy-assed pants!

BTW, the Great Newport Heist of '09 also landed the guy on NC Wanted. I thought that was for, like, triple murderers and shit--not a tobacco thief. We must be doing pretty good in NC for that guy to be most wanted.

It's just not possible to fit 26 cartons down your pants. It had to be packs. If you just stack 26 cartons on the ground, each stack of 13 would be as tall as this guy's legs almost.

I also don't think many convenience stores even have 26 cartons of that stuff in inventory.

I worked at CVS and even with some JNCO's, you're talking maybe 5 or 6 cartons down each leg max, and it would be obvious

I remember watching some crackhead steal about 100 cartons of cigarettes out of the K-Mart on Western several years back. The guy walked in, whipped out a gigantic trash bag, and proceeded to fill it to the top. Just about the time one of the managers realized what was going on and said something, he was done filling up the bag and then slowly jogged out of the building, dragging the bag behind him, and hopped in a car that his buddy had waiting at the front door. As slow as he ran, I think the cigarettes must have been for personal consumption.
