My coworkers want to know what the name of this tool is in English. I have no idea what this tool is. The Japanese is "heelbite" and they think it comes from the German word for the tool. It is used to cut sheet metal like aluminum cans and stuff.

So he said that you put a round piece of metal on a spinner and as the metal spins you use this thing to cut it.

yeah, if its just the part that scrapes scraps from the object spinning on a lathe, its a lathe bit.
