I will be choosing a body shop very soon to get some repairs done to my car. My rear passenger door is dented. My front bumper and hood both have chips from rocks that are an eyesore for me. Is there a particular way for me to proposition a body shop to cut me a deal on this extra work or bundle them into $1200 that GMAC will be paying out?

I doubt they'll bundle them in with the $1200, there's too much risk and liability type stuff. Depends if they want to walk on insurance fraud ice, I guess. I've paid cash before and just bluntly said "How much CASH to pop that dent and touch it up if necessary?"

in other words, you want to know how to ask them to commit insurance fraud?

Or, the insurance estimated $1200 for the repairs, and he wants to get as much as possible with that amount.
Been there, done that. The best way is to have a relationship with a body shop that has done work for you before.
Paying in cash only saves them 3-5%, so you are probably SOL on this small of a repair bill.
