Nice. I keep two of his NPR concert podcasts in heavy rotation. Gotta find a babysitter now.

Andrew Bird is one of the best shows I have ever been too

If you like his music, it is imperative that you see him live.

I enjoy Andrew Bird live as well, but he is a total asshole. I saw him at the bar and simply said, "Enjoyed the show" and totally ignored it and rolled his eyes at the person he was with. I didn't ask for an autograph, picture, nothing. Sorry, A. Bird, but you're not nearly famous enough to be a dick

a dick? i've seen him 4 times, and he's probably one of the most cordial, respectful artists i've ever seen.

then again, i'm not one to approach a guy after a show. because, i mean, that's hella lame to begin with.

aaaannd, also, i've seen Ryan Adams 3 times, and Oasis once. So, the dick meter is kinda skewed, maybe.

and, if people will pay $50 for goddamn Kings of Leon, Andrew Bird is worth every bit of $25. $30, even.

i would pay $12.50 to see each of them seperately, so i am totally willing to pay $25 to see them both

[Edited on July 2, 2009 at 3:08 PM. Reason : i think that sounds better]

I agree that it's lame to approach artists after a show, but he was standing directly beside me at the bar. Like I said, it was a passing "I enjoyed the show" and he totally ignored me and made a rude gesture to his friend. Yes, he seems nice on-stage, but part of being a performer is acting. So, of course he's going to act nice on stage. I've heard from other people that agree that he is an asshole off-stage.

Welllllllllllllll Tori Amos is super sweet. after her show in 1998/1999, we went near backstage to get autographs. she signed one for my friend then her manager pulled her away. she looked back as he pulled her away, looked right at me, and said "so sorry dear..."

[/unrelated artist being nice story]

man, whatever. he doesn't have to be a role model. i'm sure he gets "HEY MAN GREAT SHOW LOVE YOU SO BAD OMG LET'S TOUCH THX" about 800 times per tour. he gets to be human, too. i'd imagine that if i was well known at all for something, i'd quickly tire of "HEY MAN ENJOYED THE WHAT YOU DO FOR A LIVING THX". like, in a hurry.

i think what actually qualifies for "being a dick" is very subjective. it takes a lot for me to think someone is a dick. i'm not very sensitive.
