I bought a new stand for my TV and put my DVR and stereo receiver inside it. Apparently the DVR generates an ungodly amount of heat because it gets about 150+ degrees when the door is closed (the stereo receiver doesn't get hot at all). I figured I could just install a fan where the vents are, but I can't seem to find a small fan with a configurable temperature sensor.

It doesn't matter if the fan is USB powered (the DVR has a USB port and there'd be no reason to have it on if the DVR doesn't have power) or if it plugs into an A/C receptacle.

Anyone know where to find this?

DirecTV DVR?
I just got a laptop chillmat and put it on top of the dvr to vent the heat out of the back of my TV cabinet. According to the temp sensor in the menu, it's about 11° cooler than with it off.

I'm looking for something like this (only something more like $15):

I was looking at laptop chill mats at walmart, but they're too damn expensive for just a couple fans with <10 SCFM airflow and I'd rather have something that doesn't run constantly.

buy the quietest fans that you can get

get a 120v model, like this or similar

if needed you can always put a cheap inline blower control on it to control the speed, if it is overheating it needs to be on all the time

I bought a USB powered fan that was advertised as 30cfm. It's completely inaudible, but I don't think it pulls anywhere close to 30cfm. Probably more like 15.
