I personally know of 1 person who has been to rehab and stayed sober and that person begged to go when the problem was becoming out of hand. My soon to be exbil still doesn't think he has a problem. (He drinks as well as does coke every so often...he needs rehab for life) He said something to my sister a while back like, 'well my sponsor says I don't actually have to quit until I'm on step 4....and I'm not there yet'. He hasn't been there since jr high I'm sure. My sister wouldn't give a shit if he smoked...as long as he had a fucking JOB or any ambition for one. He's been living the sweet life for 7 fucking years.

But again, I called this shit the day they got engaged...because you see they were seniors in college, neither of them worked but he was on financial aid. Well here's the thing....his mother is an alcoholic and his younger brother recently got out of jail for some meth related conviction and he's been to rehab a number of times. I believe also the grandparents on the father's side have addiction issues.

I consider 'addiction' to be when your body will actually die because it is without something. Since technically your body needs water then I guess you could say everyone has a water addiction, but that's just silly. Bodies need food, but many times an obese person will say they have a food addiction so how to you discern?
Well I guess it's a matter of when your need for food interferes with your ability to live life? I mean I've not studied the subject but that seems to make some sense.

So when my sister tells her husband that he needs to actually be a husband and a father to support them....OR EVEN HIMSELF...and for whatever reason, he thinks/needs/feels that his body needs to have weed, so much so that it prevents him from living, well isn't that an addiction of sorts? No, not a physical addiction because he wouldn't drop dead from not smoking pot, at least there would be no medical reason for it which I realize is what the term 'addiction' is meant to be applied to (and I agree) but there's clearly some emotional/mental reason for it so then it becomes an emotional addiction.....no?
